Palin's bubble: Will it bulge or bust? (Wishful thinking from MSNBC's Chuck Todd)
MSNBC ^ | September 12, 2008 | Chuck Todd, Political Director, NBC News

Stock brokers will know exactly what I mean when they see the word "bubble" attached to the name Sarah Palin.

The Republican Party is riding quite the high.

In fact, if I were a pollster wanting to deliver good news to a Republican client, this would be the week I’d want to put the poll in the field.

Here's a good rule of thumb for the next few days: If a Republican candidate isn't in the lead in a survey conducted right now, he or she can’t win in November.

The combination of an excited Republican base and a depressed Democratic one has created for the first time in nearly four years the appearance of an environment where the GOP can win.

Burst her balloon? But big questions remain: Is this Palin bubble going to burst, and if so, when?

And if it does burst, will it be a full-fledged bust?

Will the collapse be reminiscent of famous internet bubble stock drops like DrKoop.com and Pets.com? Or will there be a soft landing, like with AOL and Amazon?

I hesitate to speculate too much right now because I believe this political environment is artificial. And it won’t last.

Still, it's clear Palin has dramatically changed the dynamics of this race. With the election just over 50 days away, things could change very quickly.

That being said, Palin has energized the Republican base and that enthusiasm will last through Election Day.

Energy means...

It would take a massive slip-up by Palin to depress the GOP at this point. And this Republican energy means a few things:

Some of the traditionally Republican-leaning battleground states (like North Carolina, Missouri, and possibly even Florida and Indiana) which weren't leaning McCain thus far are looking like McCain-leaning states again.

Quote from a very experienced investor in response to my question in 1999.

“Bubbles have a tendency to go higher and last longer than any of us expect when we first realize we are in one.”

Ditto that. Hey Chuck...go F-— yourself.
I have been fuming at the MSM coverage of this years election season—
The best thing about this election cycle is that the average Joe is FINALLY (!) waking up to the FACT that the media is totally corrupt and biased.
How could they not? It is so over the top and obvious that everybody can see it is clear as day.
The great thing to watch is the total meltdown of the talking heads—the more they pontificate and wail, the more the average viewer repulses at their ramblings—FINALLY!
Its becoming a lot of fun to watch.

Hey Chuckles - the only thing that will go bust are the balloons that come down over the heads of our JOHN and SARAH on GOP Victory Night, Chuck, mark it down and be there - and we will let you bust a balloon that you are so desperate to do! One requirement - leave your pride at the door and enter humbly.

Then Sarah will inform you of a new doctrine and quiz you.

What is interesting is he doesnt seem to think Obama himself was a “bubble” that burst 2 months before the finish line.

Even more interesting question: Is Obama running against McCain, or Sarah Palin?

A new television ad, out Friday, has the McCain camp attacking the Democratic ticket for its treatment of Palin (with some very dubious examples).

Chuck Todd is delusional. The democrat ticket and party deserve to be attacked for its treatment of Palin.

Hey Chuck...

A good stockbroker knows the difference between a strong stock and a bubble.
