Jack Cafferty: 'Is Sarah Palin's 15 Minutes of Fame Over?'
NewsBusters ^ | September 21, 2008 | P.J. Gladnick

On Friday's Situation Room, CNN's Jack Cafferty asked, "Is Sarah Palin's 15 minutes of fame over?" As you can see, Jack seems very anxious for Palin to become a has been of little consequence in this election:

Funny how a stock market crash, the failure of a few big investment banks will distract Americans from the flavor of the day. There doesn't seem to be the burning interest in who makes Sarah Palin's glasses that there was a few days ago. Former White House advisor and Republican strategist Karl Rove told the Associated Press this week that the Palin phenomenon will fade between now and the election, and that may be already happening.

“60,000 people attend a Palin rally in Florida”

Probably double Cafferty’s audience. I never knew who he was till last week when he began his assault on Palin.

Jack Cafferty’s fifteen minutes of fame is about 14 minutes and 58 seconds short.

Rove is supporting the democratic narrative.

Rove was a disaster for the Republican Party. Somebody needs to tell this guy that he isn't needed or wanted any more.

Just btw, and apropos of nothing in particular.

The historian John Hyde Preston reports that, after Serapis' first broadside, two of Bonhomme Richard's 18-pounder guns burst, possibly making other guns on the starboard side unsafe to use. Part of the damage was to the stern, causing the flag to dip somewhat.

At that point, Captain Pearson of Serapis hailed Jones and inquired, ''Do I understand, sir, that you have struck?'' (At the time, taking down one's flag from a vessel, called 'striking the colours', was the ''honourable'' way of signalling a surrender.)

The fourteen after-action accounts of Jones' reply agree on one thing: he did indeed say ''I've not yet begun to fight.'' Six of them offer variations on: ''Struck? You damned fool, I've not yet begun to fight.'' Three others indicate that Captain Jones was **considerably** less polite than that, reputedly hailing Pearson to the effect ''Tell your Arab whore what this battle is, when I've turned loose of you.''

I make no brief for any of these historical accounts. I will say, however, that the ''turned loose'' comment rings true; Jones' next move was to try to (and successfully) attach Bonhomme Richard to Serapis, with intent to board and storm, and also to employ his excellent group of sharpshooters.

I think there is a typo in your tagline.

“That if gold rust, what hall iron do?” —Chaucer .

should be

“That if gold rust, what shall iron do?” —Chaucer .

Huh. Maybe Cafferty figures that if the Palin phenomena was out of the way, Tickle Me Obama could become a fad again. Sorry, Jack, fads burn out and never come back. Of course, maybe in 20 years when Obama is long forgotten there will be an internet prank where people offer up a link in order to “Obama-roll” unwary web surfers.

He has been one of my heroes since I first read of him in elementary school. Yes, I was and still am a big time book worm!

60,000 people? Isn’t that more than watches Situation Room on any given day. Maybe its Cafferty’s 15 minutes that are over.

Sweetie, Sarah's fame is just beginning.

Perhaps your “fame” is over?

Have you heard about the 70,000 who voluntarily showed up in the HOT SUN in Florida with the hope to just see her and cheer her on? They were paid bus in people to look good. I understand the Demoncrats often have to hire people to fill up the seats. Where have you been?

Who the hell is Jack Cafferty?

I think he did a song back in the 80's called "Things are Tough all Over" or something like that.

One of mine, too. History, I think, has been rather sanitised about Jones; he was (evidently) a very rough man, and one you'd not have wanted to meet as an enemy, either in an alley or over his guns.

Nonetheless, it's one hell of a fine quote, isn't it? (g!)

Is Obama’s 15 minutes of fame over with yet?
He’s been losing steam since Hillary’s 3am ad hit in Texas.
Sarah is real and the liberals worst nightmare.

Who the hell is Jack Cafferty

Local ABC affiliate anchor in NYC-area when I was a child. Bumped for being unlikeable. Now functions as the poor man's Don Imus on CNN.

Jack, you angry, pitiful man, you only wish! What your side doesn’t like is that she’s energized the party like nothing else, when Sen. Hopeychangey and whatzisname were supposed to have this one in the bag, AND the over-the-top criticism of her and hounding her helped.

Yea its over. Just ask Fox News who had the 2nd highest ratings next to her speech at the convention when they aired Hannity’s interview.

And the small crowd of 70,000 people that came to see her today in Florida.

Not to mention all of the hit pieces that were run just this weekend.
Glad she isn’t famous anymore, or she would be attracting attention the way Obama used to.
