A senior adviser to Sen. John McCain confirms to CNN that the campaign is "shifting resources" from Michigan to Ohio and Pennsylvania, and "opening up an offensive front" in Maine.

A week? I'm sorry, but my foggy memory seems to recall him campaigning for about two years now. And he's had the nomination wrapped up since June.

You need to find another topic. :-)

I will be glad to give the McCain campaign a listing of the TV stations and cable providers in Ohio, since they don't appear to have one. Ditto for the radio stations.

Try advertising. It works. I also know some property management companies so you could try opening some headquarter offices in some high-traffic areas. Actually staffing the offices is up to you, but in a pinch we have a lot of temp agencies. It's better than a locked door.

Exactly. Send Palin, Romney, Kemp and others to various parts of Michigan. Keep the pot stirred. Make BO spend a fortune defending Michigan.

...we could pick up an electoral vote there with a ground game.

Do we have a ground game anywhere?

Here in PA the Democrats have thousands of volunteers working on the ground, the Rs spend millions on tv ads but with no visible ground forces.

This election is down to 3 States (maybe 4 if VA is actually coming into play for Obama....which I find hard to believe).

OH and CO. McCain must hold both or he very likely losses. The third State being PA.....As our one shot at an upset (and a complete game changer could we take it). The night is over if McCain takes PA (though the MSM won't call PA until 11pm at the earliest if McCain should take it)....

MI is likely a loss - That McCain is moving into OH (is somewhat scary....then again he could just be making sure we are holding there.....Which in the end is smart. We hold MI and CO and we win!). The only way a MI victory could happen is via stealth......Pulling out resources from there perhaps allows for this. But more than likely MI is a loss. The State is a joke.

Ohio is NOT a lost cause and mods should pull these doom and gloom posts the minute they’re posted. We’ve faced cheating every election. We still can win this state.

I live in norther MA and I suspect you are right. The entire northeast is a lost cause and he should focus on the mid west states and south of Virginia. Even NH is really not in play. The surrounding lib states have sucked the conservatism out of that state and I suspect Maine has a similar story. Sarah Palin does have appeal in Maine but McCain's horrendous handling of the mortgage mess has sunk him. Most people equate the mortgage mess with big business = Republican.

Thanks for the correction.

Obama has great reason for optimism in NC based upon his stellar primary performance.

Love the hardcore spin his advisors and some Freepers are trying to put on this.

If McCain is pulling out of MI, then Obama gets to bring his own expenses in MI down to almost zero.

Obama gets the same result McCain does, which is a re-apportioning of resources to the same states McCain is, with the big exception .. MI’s electorals are going in the D column.

At least they were smart enough to do it now, when everyone’s attention is on the debate.

You do remember that there were primaries in states like Georgia, aren't you? He may have campaigned there during the primaries, heck McCain campaigned in California and Massachusetts during their primaries. I don't see him spending much time or money in those states these days.

You need to find another topic. :-)

Nah, I'm having too much fun on this one.

I think it’s worth something to go after the more favorable congressional district in Maine for its electoral vote, provided it’s tied in with the campaigns efforts in New Hampshire. Depending on what the campaign sees, it might be worth a one day Palin swing through NH and ME (if she’s going to be in Dallas for an event in a couple days, I’m not sure it’s a waste of time to swing through upper New England).

Campaigning in Michigan is like Obama campaigning in North Carolina. Nice concept, but unlikely to pay off. I think McCain’s done what he can in Michigan. If Michigan voters want to stick with the Dems and their 1970s economic policies, bully for them.

If McCain wins Pennsylvania and holds Ohio and Florida, it’s not going to be that easy for Obama to win this thing. Flipping New Hampshire would help in case New Mexico or Nevada flips to Obama.

What about Wisconsin? That’s been painfully close in the last two elections. McCain has given it some attention.

This is such a dumb move, with over a month to go until the election. Bush only lost Michigan by 51-48% and it has 20 electoral votes versus Maine which has 4 and where he lost by nearly 10 percent. Should’ve kept both MI and PA in play and try to hold OH. Suburban Detroit area is more receptive to McCain than Bush, so this state was in play despite recent polls.

“is Michigan that much of a lost cause???”

Unions, heavy black population, large Islamic population, decades of corrupt Democratic party run city and state governments, combined with the Michigan diaspora leaves a state where people think that “Obamanomics” looks like a great deal to them because most of them are on some form of welfare and the rest are sucking at the government teat.

Detroit-the only city where you can find hundreds of houses for sale for under $100.

He pulled out of NC? I’d like to think that, but Rasmussen has Obama up in NC for the second week in a row.

We? Since when did you become a McCain supporter?

Also, McCain is building a ground game in Philly and the burbs.
