PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE #2 LIVE THREAD
10/07/08

Posted on 10/07/2008 2:01:24 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3

While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

We did have a few in ‘06 who were convinced that the Senate should have “gone nuclear” over judges and spending and argued and fought to convince the rest of us into voting 3rd party, not voting, or actually voting for the socialists in order to “teach them a lesson,” “save the Republican Party,” “kill the Republican party once for all,” etc.

That worked spectacularly, didn’t it? Someone forgot to tell Pelosi, Reid and the media that it did not mean a mandate against the war. We never heard that the low turn out was due to the fact that the Republicans were not conservative. All we heard about was the Democratic mandate for whatever they wanted the mandate to be about.

Remember that the Dems said that Bush won the first time on “moral” issues. Notice that abortion and stem cells aren’t brought up much by the Dems.

But wait. I keep hearing that the nation is turning more liberal. You mean we’re not going to die?

STRATEGY FOR DEBATE #3:
McCain needs to come out and refute all the lies that Obama loves to throw out there and do it immediately.

He needs to show why Obama should not be qualified to be elected — there is a long list, but here are some of the highlights: Ayers, Democratic Socialist Party membership, Rezko, lack of accomplishment (forget lack of experience because Barry has none that includes leadership), ties to ACORN, Annenberg Challenge and the funds spread to radical groups, lies in the campaign about tax cuts, lies in the campaign about the strategy for nationalizing healthcare, lies about how he is portraying himself as a centrist....

Gloves off and be focused. The Dems are your opponents and enemies who would do you great harm. They are in no way your friends, so don’t treat them like that or you will lose.

I watched the debate on Fox News Channel. Did anybody notice that immediately after the debate that the cameras did not show McCain after the first minute or so but focused on Barry and Michelle, my belle (NOT) shaking hands and taking pictures with the crowd? What happened to the McCains after the debate?

Also, anybody else find that Sen. Claire McCaskill is getting a lot of face time and is extremely annoying with all her talking points and lies? I would not care to see her any more on TV.

Welcome to FR — nice of you to sign on last week to post tonight!

Whatever that means; I suppose this was the only thread I was on.

even my husband, who is pretty neutral, told me this morning “you have the same smirk as Obama” (I was smiling to myself). he watched the debate last night and this is what he picked up.

I find myself wishing for Hillary, too. Seriously...we’d be better off. I think she’d govern more toward the center.

Well, McCain was more relaxed than Barack “I wanna be Class President” Obama. Obama was dull. Super dull. Honestly, I started nodding off during one of his meandering non-answers. Also, I lost track of the number of tax proposals that he spewed during the debate, but I did note that he is still talking about screwing corporations and small businesses. Hopefully, the next debate will have a better moderator.

Hi!! Saw your post and I wanted to suggest that you get your little fluffball Synflex for pets.

My 17 y,o Kitty, has very bad lower back arthritis and hip dysplasia, left hip. Thought I was going to have to put her down, this stuff saved her life. We're on day 8 and I already see a slight improvement!

Even if your pet doesn't have arthritis, it's a great preventative measure! Our little loved ones get old so fast!!

We wondered what happened to McCain and his wife too. The Obamas stayed and shook hands. I noted McCain looked a bit uncomfortable after despite the fact there were many hands to shake. We wondered ‘why’ he left...it did not make him look good and is just about as pathetic as most of his answers. ONLY GOD can help us. Pray up!

Uhbamuh on his own makes drying paint look like an amusement park ride, but if he were bright enough to use boredom as a strategy, his talking the way he does would be the perfect way to do it. Bore the heck out of the viewing public in the first 30 minutes, hopefully come out with at worst a draw in the first 30, and count on the fact that people will not want to be further bored.

Here’s a better drinking game during the debate.

Everyone takes a shot everytime Obama mentions the word “change”

I think many of us worried that the 300 billion McCain talked about to buy bad mortgages last night in the debate was “new” money. It was not very clear that it was “bailout” money. That makes a huge difference.
