Maybe McCain can say something simple like- “I don’t want to raise any taxes. It’s not the first thing I will look at.” You know, start easy and be clear. Then he can say, “I will look at the earmarks first and get rid of those. That alone will save X amount of money.” He can say that there is a tomorrow and we need to look ahead and not set policies to help the bailout that are going to hurt us in the future. In America we need to get back to rewarding success and hard work, not dishonesty and manipulation. I think McCain needs to hold up the Shining Light America because it is a basic principle that ties many together, whether or not there are policy differences.

That would be a good start for certain. Look past the debate moderator and audience and speak to the masses in concise simple terms. People don't want to hear him turn into a policy wonk and see a pissing contest with Obama. People need to be told why they should vote for McCain. Let the RNC, 527's and Palin tell everyone why they shouldn't vote for Obama.

You make alot of good sense, and I agree.
I would like to see McCain ask Obama about ACORN, because most people look at their vote as a sacred honor.

*** LOL! True. No need to even watch two liberals dance with each other on stage. ****

thanks.

I could only take the last debate for about ten minutes. It was so painful to watch that if I was Japanese I would have committed Harikari.

I still may hide all my knives anyway.
:-)

Although your point is well taken, it is probably too late now, alas, we have no other option. Every opportunity has been squandered and now we are left with something even more desperate than a hail Mary pass.

The financial crisis hit late. Evenything is late this time, and the timing means everyone starts from scratch. The other problem with your Hail Mary is it will only pick up a couple percent of the susceptable undecides. The rest have been innoculated by the MSM or are too busy worrying about their jobs to pay attention. I would prefer an economic Hail Mary that reorganizes the economy around business minus the banks.

Americans are looking for someone with a spine. Obama is showing as much or more spine than Obama. Many voters are totally ignorant about what Obama is really about or just forgiving of what has already come to light.

I think your theory was right up to a few days ago. McCain did need to only show some fire and let all the 527’s attack. But now, McCain has set up a full-fledged confrontation. He had better not whither or the election is lost.

I’m not so sure attacking Obama is such a bad idea at this time because the greater public knew little about Ayers and ACORN. Now, with the threat of the election possibly being stolen, the public would like to see someone confront Obama.

I agree with you entirely McCain must make his case on the financial crisis and demonstrate he can cope with it. Unfortunately, Obama stepped into the void that was created by McCain's dithering and the media's malevolence and convinced the country to a very large degree that he is better equipped on economic issues than is McCain largely because the crisis was the Republicans "fault." McCain unaccountably went dumb and failed to indict and convict the Democrats for causing the mortgage melt down.

So, even if, contrary to conventional wisdom, the financial crisis does not favor Democrats but leaves both sides an equal opportunity, McCain has already blown it. The question is, how can he salvage it? Certainly not by quibbling with Obama about who had a better tax plan. As I posted, this merely plays into Obama hands because Obama need only continue to demonstrate that he is a plausible candidate. That is so because this is a Democrat year, because everybody hates George Bush, because we are at war and everybody hates the war, because we are in a financial crisis and that normally favors Democrats, a financial crisis certainly should work against the party in power, because Obama has a ground game we can only begin to worry about, because Obama has the enthusiasm, because Obama has the money, because Obama has a big bulge in the polls.

I need not go on, it's clear. Because of these factors, the country is disposed to change parties and elect a Democrat-any plausible Democrat. To us Obama is obviously unqualified and therefore implausible. The rest of the country does not see it our way because they look at the debates and they see Obama fully in possession of himself and looking quite presidential enough. He is simply better on his feet than McCain. He won the first two debates.

How in the world one can say that for McCain to do more of what he did in the last two debates, but lay out a better case on the economic side, will somehow turn this election around in a third debate is utterly beyond me.

I do believe that McCain must combine the moral destruction of Obama with the financial situation and show that Obama is such an ideologically committed radical that he is just too dangerous to entrust the economy to. Do I think this will work? Probably not. If you have a better card to play, turn them over and show the table.

Why is McPain “talking” tough when he claims to be the new TR — who said “speak softly and carry a big stick”. McPain is running out of excuses, and I fear he has already done so.

Good points. Hope Senator McCain fires those bullets.

God bless him and guide him tonight.
