McCain camp: ‘We lost the spin war' (Well, look, it's like running against God.”! Incredible!)

John McCain campaign senior strategist Nicole Wallace conceded Wednesday that the campaign “lost the spin war” by allowing Barack Obama’s campaign to brand the Arizona senator as a dirty campaigner. “The truth is they play dirty politics, and maybe we haven't been quick enough. Maybe we don't have enough friends in the media to carry the message,” Wallace said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe show. “We certainly lost the spin war about his fighting a more negative campaign. The truth is that Barack Obama has spent more money on negative attack ads against John McCain than any politician, Democrat or Republican, in history.”

Wallace blamed a double standard in the media which highlights any potentially negative mention of Obama’s race while ignoring attacks against Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s gender.

“There is an acceptance of the gender bashing that's happened with Sarah Palin,” Wallace said. “It's an atrocity. Win or lose, we'll spend a long time examining the atrocities that have been carried out.”

“The truth is we've had a lot of thoughtful discussions about race in this campaign, and that is entirely appropriate. We should continue to do so. We have spent far less time talking about the gender bashing that happens, not only out of the Obama campaign, but on the far left,” the strategist added.

But Wallace said that no matter the tack taken by the McCain campaign in pushing its message, its efforts have so far been futile.

“Well, look, it's like running against God,” Wallace said. “You know, the media has anointed [Obama]. Many, many places in the media, present company excluded, and he's got more money. He opted out of public funds. No one cares about that.”

He had a surprising good campaign this summer but has been drowning since the financial crisis. What has killed him, and I knew it would, was signing on to the pork barrel, massive giveaway investor bailout bill, especially after claiming to suspend his campaign to make a difference (and be a reformer). It took away any reform or economic issues. What that leaves him with is scaring voters about Obama which is a good idea but it is not enough in this climate. McCain needed a bold conservative position on the issue separating himself from Obama, like he did with drilling this summer. But given the bailout he cant oppose any giveaways without confirming Obama’s theme, "McCain is only for the rich". He cant be a reformer while supporting the pork and earmarks in the bill, And lastly, every-time he points the finger at republicans as greedy, Obama points the finger at him and says I agree.

One, why does she exclude the present company? She’s on msnbc, for God’s sake!

Two, her candidate hasn’t been fighting back much and he’s a fool if he actually thought the media and his “friends” in politics would do it for him. I’m beginning to think he is too naive to be president.

FYI! He fired a group of people on the weekend for being slackers. The inner circle now if extremely small and from the way he has sounded since Sunday, it looks like we will see a different McCain.

Never should have hired Bush kumbaya people as advisors IMHO!

PlEASE, try to see my basic point, PALIN has to go on televions, national prime time, and give a presidential explanation of McCain policies. Millions will tune in, and the McCain message will get a fresh look.

Wallace is being a defeatist. She should be fired.

Obama is only "god" level to the brainwashed true believers, and they shouldn't even be on her mind. What should be on her mind is the others who need to know that Obama is a radial socialist who thinks he's God!

1. McCain should use the debate to announce who would be on his cabinet.

2. While Obama is talking about generalities of his "plan," and telling you that they're details, McCain can talk about his team that he would put in place to get us out of this mess.

3. McCain should then press Obama to name his team, and Obama won't do it.

4. That's when McCain should hammer Obama on his associations with radicals.

5. McCain has to first lay the groundwork of naming his team, then demand that Obama respond with his team, and then tell the American people that Obama won't name his team because they are all radicals from his past.

Nice way to say modern Republicans are pushovers for the left.

I couldn’t agree more.

Republicans are busy praying and planning their next oh, so effective “high-road” strategy.

Meanwhile, Democrats are bashing their heads in and walking out the back door with the stolen votes.

Republicans may someday learn that the left is playing for keeps and playing “nice” doesn’t work with them. Though I’m not sure it will be much before they’re standing in line for some moldy bread.

The self-proclaimed defenders of the constitution need to go back to warrior school. Right now, they’re more like big babies standing and crying ‘cus the mean wittle Democwats aren’t pwaying by da wules.

It’s amazing what the right will tolerate these days. I guess they can say they have a high tolerance for pain, if nothing else.

“The man has been in the senate way too long, has thought the media was his friend, and has treated Obama like a junior senator who is worthy of engaging in policy discussions instead of beating his ass!!!!!”

I dread even watching this last debate.

“Well, look, it's like running against God,” Wallace said

It may be true, but not in the way he means it.

God, the Provider, is the Captain of all economies. It is God who teaches the fingers of our warriors to fight. God always casts the deciding vote in any election. And God's glory is the inevitable objective of history.

This nation, in this time is more blessed by God than any other or at any other time. No one can refute that. But can anyone say we deserve it? I crave God's mercy and blessings and simultaneously I apprehend his wrath which already seems to be upon us. Vote like you are fleeing from God's wrath. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, the knowledge of the Holy is understanding.

A remember this, the fall of Israel to Babylon was a mercy to Israel because they were sacrificing their own children in agonizing torture to Molech, a crime which surely exceeded the crimes of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Possible winning point that McCain can make in tonight's debate ... say the above, but add "and Hillary Clinton" right after "John McCain".

That should nicely lock in the 20% or so of Hillary! voters who indicated last Summer that they wouldn't vote for Obama.

I agree with you. Although the Hillary voters made not admit to pollsters, they know if Sen. Obama wins, Hillary never sees the Presidency. When they get in the polling booth, they’re not going to vote in a manner that ends Hillary’s presidential ambitions.
