Here They Come. Democrats gone wild.
Weekly Standard ^ | Oct. 27, 2008 issue | Matthew Continetti

It's time to face facts. In-your-face liberalism is about to make a comeback. And this time it will be on steroids.

Next year the Democrats will control both houses of Congress, most likely with comfortable, perhaps filibuster-proof majorities. If there is a Democratic president, too, Washington will host one of the most liberal governments in American history. Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid are more than ready to make staggeringly liberal changes in the country's economic, social, and foreign policy.

Obama says Washington needs to "invest" tax dollars in alternative energy, infrastructure, health insurance subsidies, and education before it starts worrying about deficit reduction. Paul Krugman writes that "now is not the time to worry about the deficit." Pelosi wants Congress to pass another $300 billion economic stimulus package by the end of the year--even though the previous $300 billion Congress spent last winter had no discernible effect. The GOP has been horrible on spending. The Democrats will be worse.

McCain gets us into a nationalized socialist economy fast, Bambi faster. Me, I want my vote to show I support free markets. Look, either way the government is going to do a land grab at firesale prices--do you want your vote to show you support it?

Don't Blame Me, I Vote For Barr.

It’s not over yet.

*sigh* With dead people voting in Ohio, Mickey Mouse voting in Florida, the Dallas Cowboys voting twice (once in Missouri and once in Nevada) it might as well be though...

Don't be so pessimistic. Now these RATs have been flushed out. They would be really stupid to try any tricks on election day. Even if Osama wins his reign will be looked on as illegitimate.

This voter fraud has been going on for a long time. Thank god it has come to light. Maybe this will be the end of it for now. Validating the election process can only help us.

Onward to Victory! Do it for Sarah.

“It’s not over yet.”

I agree. The race is much closer than the MSM would like people to believe — that’s why it’s important for all sensible people to get out and vote for McCain/Palin, to STOP the socialist takeover of the US by Obama and cronies.

that's just crap. you sound like a quitter. i don't mean to be harsh, but you still have to support conservative values. a vote for a third party is a vote for OBAMA PELOSI.

third party's have had chance after chance to make it, yet fail to sell their message to a big enough majority to win anything. Perot was a once in a lifetime gig.

the only way to win is to control the GOP. i don't know how weaksauce McCain made it past the primary, but he's WAY better than PELOSI. Good Lord!

the problem with the GOP is that they don't have a mean bone in their body's. most newly elected republicans get to DC and are shocked to find what ghouls the Dems really are, and I'll bet none know how to approach people who are the devil incarnate.

democrats are like serial killers. can you reason with a serial killer?

the solution is educating -AND SCREENING- GOP candidates, so they don't fall prey to dems scrounging thru their underwear drawer, garbage, tapping phones, and doing FBI & IRS background checks on ever GOP member.

You and I would never think to do such things. we were raised with morals, values, a conscience. dems have to classes on how to pretend to be these things.

The left lived through 8 years of Bush to emerge stronger than ever...we can live through 4 of 0bama.

As someone who voted for Marrou in 1992, I can definitely appreciate your idealism. However, there is much more at stake now, principly the replacement of three US Supreme Court Justices. While the Obama Presidency may only last four years, his legacy of placing people like Cornel West on the Supreme Court will affect us for decades to come.

I wonder if the "we can survive 4 years of Obama" thinking is valid. With no checks and balances, Dems ruling the House, Senate, Presidency, and Supreme Court could/will tax us into Socialism, eliminate the Electoral College, dilute our military and defense systems, and remove the 2nd Ammendment, thus totally enslaving the population.

They have been fighting to do these things for years. Do folks think they have just been kidding? Obama means we have no way to fight any more. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid.

I am supporting GOP reps that opposed the bailout...

We should all support our House Republicans. They are our last line of defense. I'd just ask you to vote for Sarah also.

One socialist atrocity not mentioned that we are likely to get forever if Obama wins is government daycare centers for children. It could be the worst one of all.

If Ohio and other states are not going to enforce the election laws and thus allow thousands of illegal voters, why doesn’t someone from the Republican side dump about a half-million bogus registrations in the mix?

I know the answer of course, I’m just mad about it! This mess is beyond insane! Why is everybody just content to set by and let it happen?

The problem is that this time the Democrats won’t give up power AND Democrat administrations do LASTING DAMAGE to the country. We are still suffering from the “New Deal”, not to mention that without Carter, Iran would not have been overtaken by radical Muslims and we wouldn’t be faced with them also acquiring nukes. And how do you think we will recover from the Democrats stuffin our courts with leftist activist judges?

Some people said in 2006, “let the Democrats take over” — well, now we see what happened, and this year they are even stronger, instead of weaker.

We are digging our own graves in the name of “principles”, if we ignore reality.

If McCain makes some sort of statement clarifying how we will get back to free market capitalism he can have my vote...but how in good conscious can I vote for him if he doesn’t?

Absolutely right. Anyone who thinks its important to make a “protest” vote for 3rd party or just sit it out, can blame themselves when the brownshirts come beating on their door.
Nope, sorry. This was exactly the same logic that led to 8 years of Bush. The Democratic Party was darn near dead at the start of the Bush presidency. It was those 8 years of Bush that put us exactly where we are now, with the liberals about to seize power and the country about to make an unprecedented swing to the left.

Until the Republicans can nominate a literate, well-spoken, intelligent, Reagan-style conservative, I'm not voting for them. McCain is by any objective definition, not a conservative. If he gets in, he's going to be branded a far right wing extremist by the media, while governing like a center-left Democrat.

You are not really voting but committing an exercise of self delusion.

Bob Barr is not a candidate, he is but a bitter pretender.

To vote, you must cast a ballot for Obama or McCain. You have drunk the Kool ade and it has warped your sensibility.

Sometimes a protest vote could be a worthy thing, but not when the likely result of your protest vote will be to toss America from the frying pan into the fire.
Now is not the time, anyone who says it is is lying to themselves and trying to BS the rest of us.

You can because the chance of him nominating Supreme Court justices who respect the constitution is pretty good, and the chance of Obama doing the same is nill. The effects of those nominations will last for decades.

There is never a conveinent time for a protest vote, it always takes a bit of ‘courage’ (in quotes because it may also mean lunacy, I know). But given that the leadership of both parties seems keen to turn us into a nationalized socialized economy I have to protest somehow. If you have a suggestion to how I can vote McCain and still have my voice heard I am all ears.

And you believe there will be meaningful free and fair elections when they take over? Stalinists don’t do elections or democracy. It won’t be the first time that dictators got elected. Remember Hitler? There won’t be any elections that our side will win. They will be fixed and they will claim they have the mandate to do what they want. This country is finished. This is the last election where we may still have a chance to reverse things.

*sigh*

One thing this election season has shown me is that there are intellectual lightweights, who deal from emotion instead of clear thought and sound judgment, on both sides. I used to think it was only the dhimmicrats.

Unfortunately, we may all have to suffer from such lunacy just as we did as a result of the intellectual lightweights who voted for Ross Perot who contributed to eight years of Bill Clinton.
