Obama made clear that he was a strong supporter of the draft at the ServiceNation Presidential Forum at Columbia University on Sept. 11, 2008 and I don't know why the MSM or the McCain campaign let that one slip right by. Obama on the draft speaking at Columbia:

The Obama campaign is playing down Biden's "gaffe" by saying that international crisis is common when a new president takes office. . . The point that Biden was making was not that Obama will be tested but rather some very specific decisions that Obama was going to make that would be unpopular with Americans regarding the crisis. . . He explains that it will be a decision that people will claim not to have known that he'd make. . . Although Obama said he favors the draft at the forum, it's never been in the MSM and the vast majority of people have no idea. A lot of his support is coming from people and groups who believe that Obama wants to keep us out of war and conscription contradicts that. . .

I don’t think this is the correct interpretation.
I think Joe means that Obama will have to deploy troops in military action, and is asking all the lefties and code pinks to shut up with their protesting if he does.

I really thought he was talking about socialism, but I guess instituting the draft so he can have the backing of an Obama military when he implements his socialist policies would be a logical first step. Particularly if he “drafts” out of “urban” areas as indicated. I’m sure those urban warriors will follow Obama to the grave keeping the “folks in line, domestically”.

I know that the military is concerned that many will not reenlist under an Obama presidency. He will probably have to reinstitute the draft. And it will help with his unemployment numbers! lol
But this makes sense with our troops already engaged he would likely HAVE to draft people. If people even thought this he’d lose in a landslide.
Not to mention their parents. Particularly of girls.

Biden & Obamugabe received security briefings last week. I’m thinking that they learned that IRAN is close to having a nuclear weapon, and the next POTUS, i.e. Obama, will have to bomb IRAN’s nuke facilities or invade with ground troops. Which is exactly what Obooby has been claiming Bush did in Iraq........
I don’t think this is correct either, but I do think we should continue to let Hillary supporters think so!
The Army doesn’t want conscripts. It takes too long to train these guys and the tools they use are too sophisticated for someone that is only going to be around two years.
Draft is a stupid idea. You will have riots on the campuses.

A draft is certain very probable with Obama.
He promised to increase manpower in the military, yet at the same time promises to slow down new combat systems-which reduce the need for as many boots on the ground.
In addition, the plan to encourage soldiers to leave after a short period of time with the offer of greatly expanded educational benefits for 3 years service will create openings in the ranks.
If you couple Obama’s stated military plans, along with his plan for new civilian service opportunities, I don’t see how he can get around instituting a draft.
