WASHINGTON (AP) - An Associated Press-GfK poll shows the presidential race tightened after the final debate, with John McCain gaining among whites and people earning less than $50,000. Two weeks before the election, McCain and Barack Obama are essentially running even among likely voters.

IBD/TIPP Tracking Poll: Day Ten

Posted: Wednesday, October 22, 2008

Contrary to other polls, some of which show Obama ahead by double digits, the IBD/TIPP Poll shows a sudden tightening of Obama’s lead to 3.7 from 6.0. McCain has picked up 3 points in the West and with independents, married women and those with some college. He’s also gaining momentum in the suburbs, where he’s gone from dead even a week ago to a 20-point lead. Obama padded gains in urban areas and with lower-class households, but he slipped 4 points with parents.

Let’s see how many on our side seek to sabotage McCain.

Our side won't do that, they won't vote for McCain or might vote other or 3rd party or write in, meanwhile the shrillary disillusioned WILL vote for McCain, or just stay home.

" My thought — ... was that white voters might be less inclined to be completely truthful with a pollster with an identifiable minority accent. This would not explain the results by robo-pollsters, like Rasmussen, however. So I remain baffled.

No, you have to remember that we are in a media atmosphere of "Obama is so utterly cool and McCain is sooo lame."

Even in a robo-call poll, there will be some people who think that when they register their views they will go beyond the pollster's database and into something more threatening. Somewhere, there are a few paranoid types worried that they are being put on a list to be used to finger them later for harboring "anti-social" views. It doesn't take many to do this.

In the past, these may have canceled each other out, but this cycle, the pro-Obama drumbeat is so strong, and the racial attitude suspicions are definitely much more real. It's hard to imagine this doesn't sway a few to give false answers---not every Republican is of sound mind. It only takes a couple percentage points of this to skew things very badly in this unique election.

Don’t count your chickens, other polls have Obama up by 10 or more.

Well, if we look at the trend over the last two presidential elections we see that many polls even the exit polls gave Dems an illusion to believe in. LOL. Behind the scenes they were discussing members for the Cabinet on election day at the networks. Bush won both so I’m remembering a MSM liberal trend and measuring it with who actually won.

These polls are making me dizzy. What are the pollsters missing ?

It seems almost cartoonish the way these polls are moving around.

What would he do if one of his various 'black' grannies became ill? Under the bus for her?

This is more honest. Obama is stuck at 44%. He'll probably get even less come Election Day. The MSM and the Democrats should be panicked. If this is the same next week, Obama is in big, big, big trouble!

Be prepared for some dirty tricks.

Next Friday, Halloween, will be the day the dems unleash their filthiest "smear of the year." Something like, "McCain/Palin affair! Photos rumored!" or "Todd Palin accused of raping stewardess on campaign plane!" I know they will do better, but that's the general idea.

“BUT MCCAIN AND SARAH ARE GOING TO BE ELECTED....KEEP THE FAITH....WORK HARD AND DONATE PLEASE MORE AND VOLUNTEER...” ~ cherry

You got it!

Here’s an email I got a little earlier from a friend who never paid any attention to politics before. There have to be a LOT more like him out there, too:

At 11:11 AM 10/22/2008, he wrote:

For the first time in my adult life, I voted in the national election. For that matter, it’s the first time I ever voted. I was one of the undecided voters to begin with, but too many red flags have gone up over the Democratic Party.

There was the slamming, bashing, and sexist slurs against Sarah Palin. That was the second flag, and the one that started turning me to the Republican Party. The first red flag was Obama’s association with a racist, Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

Then, another red flag was Obama’s associations with other unsavory characters. Another red flag was the Acorn corruption. Another red flag was the treatment by the Democratic media of average Joe the plumber. I never once heard Obama come to Joe’s defense, or to tell the Democrats to back off.

The next red flag was Colin Powell. Knowing Colin Powell, this had to be in the planning for a long time. The last red flag that I couldn’t stomach was the little children OBVIOUSLY being manipulated and exploited by the democratic media, and coaxed by their parents, to voice vitriol against Sarah Palin.

After I saw that, I got up off my duff and went to the early voting place and voted straight Republican.

It’s amazing how fearful the Democrats are that they have to resort to these kind of tactics. I watched an interview this morning where the reporter was in a restaurant, and he asked for a show of hands of those who were voting for McCain. Half the room raised their hands. Then he asked how many were voting for Obama. A few of the young people raised their hands AND their voices.

It seems as if the democrats are voting by emotion and prejudice, which both omit logic and sensibility. Do I believe McCain and Palin will win? Are most Americans smart and level-headed?

Steve

I've never sought to sabotage him... I've wondered though if he really wants to be President. The last week of the campaign should tell the story. We need every conservative to turn out to prevent Democrats from getting super-majorities in Congress. I already voted. I hope every one else does the same.

It is obvious to me the something is off with the polls. The favorable rating in no way make the slightest sense. Obama +20 favorability. NO WAY!
