I wasn’t referring to Palin. I was referring to some of the people on this site.

Just read the thread.

You obviously didn’t read my posts. I cast my vote for McCain/Palin this morning.

Thank you. You want to EXCLUDE me from the political process. Why? Because I put the Word of God first? Do tell, why does my faith offend you? Was it a divorce? Or a relative that procured an abortion? A queer cousin? Do tell, why must I be silent so that failures like Goldwater can be deified?

I did. You failed to answer my questions. You said you want me excluded from the politcal process, right?

I wasn’t aware you would be interested in the two percent. I will ignore the tone of your request and give an honest and civil answer.

I do advocacy work for abused children in foster care. I see firsthand what these kids go through, being shuffled from foster home to foster home, with never a stable adult presence in their lives. It makes me ill that McCain has pandered to the fundamentalists in opposing adoption by loving gay parents of children who desperately need homes.

I believe that homosexuality is genetic and not chosen, any more than eye color or skin color is chosen. I utterly reject the demonization of gay people that I often see on this site. It makes me ill that people who call themselves Christian would pre-judge the character and hearts of people they do not even know, and assume the terrible things about them that I have sometimes seen described on this site. The gay families I have known are loving and decent people who would sooner kill themselves than harm any child. They do not have sex in the living room in front of their children, and they are not out to “convert” anybody.

It breaks my heart to know that some people here would condemn these kids to a lifetime of state care, bouncing from foster home to foster home, just because of a potential parent’s sexual preference.

And I am not alone. Polls show that the younger generation of Republicans is coming to this conclusion, probably because they have actually gotten to KNOW gay people. It is hard to demonize someone when you speak with and spend time with them every day. So I have hope that this bigotry will stop.

Absolutely not. Your reading comprehension needs some work, or you are being purposely obtuse.

I wholly support your right to vote and advocate for the candidate you choose. I expect that you will afford me the same right. I will be voting for and actively supporting/promoting primary candidates who do not pander to the pet issues of the religious right.

And yet YOU said, “...and keep the religious right out of politics.”

That would be ME. Why must I be “kept out of politics” in your odd world?

I have clarified that statement already, twice. You seem to have a problem with comprehension.

Good luck with that.

Aha, now your issue is clear. Do tell, if homosexuality is 'genetic', why should it be taught in our schools? How do you explain bisexuality? Or polygamy? How about the evr ugly necrophilia? Or bestiality?

Thank you for the honest answer. Why should I not be interested in the "two percent"? It's apparently very important to you.

I believe that homosexuality is genetic and not chosen,

I believe it is a mental illness, and not remotely genetic.

It makes me ill that McCain has pandered to the fundamentalists in opposing adoption by loving gay parents of children who desperately need homes.

It makes me ill that anybody would consider allowing seriously mentally ill people, whose mental illness has warped their entire lifestyle, to inflict their problems on already disturbed children. Polls show

Polls show whatever the pollster (or the pollster's client) wants them to show.

probably because they have actually gotten to KNOW gay people.

And then there are those of us who have actually gotten to KNOW gay people ... and still aren't bamboozled into thinking that their mental illness is a good thing.

“I have clarified that statement already, twice.”

Not that I see, but then your illuminated state makes vision difficult for us mundane religous right folks. How about trying one more time? Can you?

What was, voting for the despised religous right? How enlightened of you.

Sigh. Now I have “an issue,” huh?

No, it’s not my issue. It is two percent. However, it does seem to be an issue for you. Your comparisons are just silly, IMO.

As for the schools, I am like most parents I know. I want my children be taught math, science, and literature.

What comparisons? I asked questions, you avoid answers while trying to exclude me from the process. Sad.

Sarah Palin is more qualified than was Harry Truman, Richard Nixon, Lyndon Johnson, Spiro Agnew, Carter’s forgetable choice (Mondale), George H W Bush, Al Gore, or Dick Cheny, and that is only during my lifetime. Before the second half of the twentieth century the bottom of the ticket was chosen for the votes he could bring to the ticket. Oh, and he had to be over thirty-five, a natural born citizen, and have lived in the US for fourteen years. As to qualification for the top executive (note: not legislative) post in this country, Governors trump Senators any day.
