CNN’s latest state polls of polls show Sen. Barack Obama holding the advantage in the final hours of voting — but McCain making small last-minute gains in some key battlegrounds.
In Florida, where the polls close at 8 p.m. ET, CNN's new poll of polls shows Obama leading John McCain by 2 points, 48 percent to 46 percent. The last poll of polls, released Saturday, also showed Obama head by 2 points.
In Indiana, a historically Republican state up for grabs this cycle, the GOP nominee is leading his Democratic counterpart by 2 points, 48 percent to 46 percent. CNN’s last Indiana Poll of Polls, released November 3, showed McCain leading Obama by 1 point, 47 percent to 46 percent.
Polls close in Indiana at 7 p.m. ET.
CNN’s new Missouri poll of polls shows McCain and Obama tied with 48 percent each; CNN’s last Missouri Poll of Polls — released November 3 — also showed McCain and Obama tied with 47 percent each.
Voters in Missouri have until 8 p.m. ET to choose their candidate for president.
In battleground Nevada, where polls close at 10 p.m ET , Obama is leading McCain by 7 points, 50 percent to 43 perecent according to the lastest average of polls in the state. That's up 2 points from the last poll of polls in Nevada showing Obama up by 5 points.
A new North Carolina poll shows McCain leading Obama by 1 point, 49 percent to 48 percent. The last average of polls in in the state showed Obama leading McCain by 1 point.
Polls in the state close at 7:30 p.m. ET.

With the notorious oversampling of Democrats, these polls mean McCain is AHEAD not two points down.

looks like CNN is getting ready for a face saving measure. They are getting themselves ready to do the “too close to call” bit tonight, you can see it plain as day.

Short answer: Yes.
Even with the sampling flaws in this poll it shows at least some movement toward McCain. I don’t think most of the polls are catching “The Surge” that will carry him to victory in most of the red states and perhaps even a couple of blue ones.

Final hours of voting b/c Florida has had early voting for weeks.
I am hopeful that the grown-up taxpaying citizens, take the wheel from the yound idealist, welfare Obamabots before it is too late.
Hopefully Middle America got religion these last few days.
It looks like it. The only one of those states that could possibly not go to the republican is Nevada, but I still think he has a good chance there also.
The Florida Panhandle (Northwest) is in the Central Time Zone and they are, for that reason, are the last to be counted.
The Panhandle is very strongly conservative and pro-military....so BO will need a much bigger lead than that.
There are many thousands of people who never voted for Bush, but will vote for McCain.
In close elections, this margin could amount to 2%-4% of the popular vote and easily could swing the election to McCain.

Any Illinois, NW Indiana, southern Wisconsin Freepers going to head on down to Grant Park to be with Obama at his “victory” celebration rally tonight? They expect hundreds of thousands to be there.
I can’t believe the chutzpah (sp?) of Obama to have a huge victory rally before the election is decided. If he’s expecting to make a prime time victory speech to his loyal fans, he might have a long wait. Suppose it’s a long election night. He could be there till 3 a.m. waiting for the election returns to be counted in tight states. What the heck would he say to people before the result is known? Or is he just assuming he will win a landslide?
Stay tuned. I wonder if his internal polls tell him it’s in the bag, or if he just has the chutzpah(sp?) of an arrogant politician.
What’s with this guy and huge crowds anyway? He lapped it all up in Berlin with 200,000 people. He couldn’t make his convention speech in the convention center, instead, he had to be in a stadium with 75,000 of his closest friends. And now tonight hundreds of thousands will be there to hear him.
