It is now time for Atlas to Shrug...

As it appears that Obama has won this election, following Fox News calling both Ohio and PA for him, I think it is now time for the businessmen and women who run this country to make it quite clear what the consequences are to those people who sold out their freedom for empty promises.

Small business owners, your taxes are now going to be raised. You now will face the difficult choice of either cutting your costs by laying people off, or by passing the increased costs of taxation on to your customers. This time I want you to take the time to tell that laid off employee exactly why he has lost his job. Tell him that the Obama tax increase has forced you to take his salary and give it to "the middle class". If he protests that he is part of the middle class, then explain that he should make good use of the $500 he sold his vote for, because it cost him his job.

For the manufacturers: When you move your production facilities overseas because the US has the second highest corporate income taxes in the world, make sure your workers understand that their Union is mostly to blame, and they should go talk to them about why it was a good idea to vote for the guy who would make all union votes public.

For your customers: Explain that the price of your product has gone up because of your taxes being increased, and because the rising price of oil from keeping the caribou happy has forced you to charge them more. Tell them you tried inflating your tires, but unfortunately it did not put any more gasoline in your tank.

Consumers: When you go shopping, and are considering buying a high ticket item, when you change your mind, make sure that they know that if you had only kep that extra 3% of your salary.... the "chump change", you could have bought their item.

In short: It is time for us all to become John Galt.

Make them understand that capitalism requires capital, and unfortunately Obama gave the capital you needed to somebody who was more deserving than them.

Ask them how it feels to be "rich".

Tell them that you are sure they will be OK, because Obama told them it would be so.

Ask them how they are enjoying their "Change", and if they have any more "Hope" for the future.

I won’t be buying any more fund-raising candy for schools in the foreseeable future. Now that tax raisin’ Obama is in charge, they can get their money from the government that comes from my paycheck.

As a Restaurant Manager, and former Server and Bartender, don’t take it out on them. Some of them are on our side. If they choose to tell you about the greatness of Obama, well then, all bets are off.

Got a link to companies who support the Dem’s? I want to be sure to avoid them like the plague.

“Defund the beast, and it will starve.”

I am with you 100%.

I am willing provide whatever assistance I can to the cause.

If you all are serious then I can develop a website and provide whatever technical resources we’ll need. I have a stable of web developers, artists and computer consultants with which to help.

We’ll need to develop a mission with clear goals. Bring in volunteers to help on the ground. Then we have to spread the word and gain support and momentum.

Anyone who’s really serious chime in.

“A “red” fund could potentially attract enough money to eventually target “problem companies”, and purchase enough shares on the open market to throw out the board of directors.

More: Remember Jesse and the Rainbow Push Coalition? We could brand a “stamp of approval”, sort of like a “Union Label” that we could use to influence businesses behavior patterns. I can buy my goods from only those who agree with me, and I can publicize why they no longer get my business, and the business of the 50 million other Conservatives...

I can put that stamp on a movie with a conservative actor, and with hold it from a liberal movie. I can hit them in the wallet, where it hurts....”

I’m diggin’ this idea.

If it did nothing else it would punish the mercantilist sell-outs who do GREAT HARM to capitalism.

“But on that point, I would discourage anyone from enlisting." Let them try to draft my son to fight for the 0bamunists. Not a frickin' chance -- not until the Red Chinese are on our shores, that is.

On the other hand, is this the end of affirmative action? It really should be!

Not even. It is just the beginning of enshrining a permanent bias against "non-minorities". You do recall the woman who expects Obama to pay for her gas and mortgage? How many times have you heard "our time has come". Bend over, here it comes again.

I think we need to identify goals. I like the "Red Fund" idea, and since I already manage money, I will look into what licenses and legal hoops are required to create a "Red Fund" with all companies that are on our side. Marketing it and getting investors to participate is the second hurdle. The key is to make it profitable. Nobody would want to invest in a purely ideological cause, but if it makes a profit and serves the conservative agenda, that's a winner.

Next, the identification of like minded companies, products, and even movies that can receive a stamp of approval, or a thumbs down stamp. We need to identify how many conservative consumers we can get to sign up for an organization like that, and then use that economic carrot and stick to influence those company's behavior. We can cross market with socially conservative organizations, like churches too, so we can extend our reach outwards.

Finally, and this would be much later on after a large amount of capital has been raised in in the "Red Fund" or better yet the "Galt Fund Family" (The color red conjurs up red ink....), or whatever it becomes, we can selectively buy enough shares of problem companies to raie hell with their board of directors, if not gain an outright majority stake.

We have to think BIG here. A half-hearted effort will lead us nowhere, and we would need thousands of Freepers or other conservatives to agree to participate.

It can be done if we all can move in the same direction.

Crazy or briliant?

You could also end up on a list of companies forbidden to contract with state and federal agencies. If that is your bread and butter, you're screwed.

I'm wondering if we should cash out our savings accounts and stocks right now, in the next two months, and sink every dime we have in tangible goods: arms & ammo, food storage, gold & silver, cash, land -- anything non-paper that can't be seized electronically. Any thoughts?

I've already done all that... and believe all of us should do the same.

I would be interested in a “red” investment fund. I was contemplating moving my investments to international funds. All my investments are in retirement funds (401k and IRA).

I am also going to maximize my contributions to lower my taxable income as much as possible.

Companies like Boeing and Lockheed, if we get to the point to where they would listen to us, would not be cut out of the process. We have to get our gear from somewhere, and it won't be from Dassault.

There are plenty of companies that would fit the bill that don't depend on the government.

I'll bet there are hundreds that would be honored to even get on our buy list.

We are darn near 50% of this country.

And our half contains most of the producers, their half has almost all (maybe all, period?) of the entitlement voters. Parasites vote 'rat.

I’m actually looking forward to this. Even if it’s only a drop in the bucket, the principle that I can opt out of contributing to this economy and make a game of seeing how little I can contribute to it and this government has me excited. I like the idea of keeping my life and finances off-limits and in my personal control. It’s like retaining some sort of freedom, a lifeboat in the sea of hussein-worship and control all around me. It will be an intriguing game to see how much control I can retain as opposed to the socialist efforts to run my life and confiscate my property.

Time to shrug, Atlas. Bigtime. Start a ranch or a farm and work at a subsistence level. Barter. Buy used from trusted others. Learn to write letters again. Learn Morse Code and how to operate a ham radio. Buy a shortwave.

This would be a good time to move to Kenya. I think it’s the one country that will be safe from Obama’s need to invade our allies. Accordingly, there will be no need for Kenya to mount an army because it will soon be a protectorate of the U.S..

I plan on cutting all spending with people/businesses who support this socialism crap ..... whether they understand they are 'usefull idiots' or not.

I am going to find out which convenience market/ gas station etc owners near me believe as I do and do all my business with them. I will also let them know exactly why I am dealing with them. I haven't decided yet if I will tell any who I am ending business dealings with exactly why I am doing so. I probably will.

Anyone who's really serious chime in.

I'm very serious about this idea! Let me know what I can do to help.

A ping list would be helpful for those who wish to participate. I'll be happy to start one if you'd like.
