My Commitment to Conservatism and my fellow FReepers/Friends (Vanity)
vanity | 11/05/08 | GlacierHoney

Posted on 11/05/2008 11:11:23 AM PST by Glacier Honey

I spent the morning in my town prayer group and we prayed and read 1st Peter and Psalms 24 and many other scriptures. I have peace in my heart and a game plan for the next 4 years. I picked up the Christina business directory and plan to use it.

After prayer I went to the salon and spoke with the owner where I’ve been going to for 7 years and explained that since they openly supported Obama, I will no longer bring them my business which is $125.00 ever three months which comes out to $500.00 a year.

I then went to my neighborhood owned gun store and put down money on my new Baby Eagle 9mm.

After that, I went to the family owned Mexican restaurant that we have been going to for 5 years and explained that I could no longer afford to eat at his restaurant , especially one who tried to convince me Obama was going to help his business succeed beyond his wildest dreams.

A month ago I told the lawn company who I have used the last 6 years to blow out my sprinkler system for the winter, that I would no longer use their services because of the Obama sticker on his work truck. I explained to him that I did not want to be the cause of his business paying extra taxes if he were to make too much money. I purchased a small compressor and taught myself how to do it and saved $50.00. I have also earned another $40.00 for winterizing 4 of my neighbor’s sprinkler systems who also used the same lawn company.

I am cutting way back on my expenses and will not consciously support a liberal small business or any business that I can avoid that is liberal. I will not longer go to the movies.

I’ll continue to work hard and continue to educate myself on the economy and exactly who is to blame for this economic mess. Doesn’t matter if it is a Rino of Demorat, let the chips fall where they may. I will not vote for them.

I have learned working in a liberal environment to never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

This is my commitment to me and my country and my fellow conservatives. I feel empowered and I would like to encourage others to take a stand and do what you feel is right for you and your family.

Lastly, I will bring myself to be obedient to my Lord and pray for Obama’s soul. God can do a mighty work in him if He chooses to. We will see.

Thanks FR for all you have done for us and we will continue to fight the good fight. G.H.

I love your approach. Do what you can to take a stand in your own way. Draw a line in the sand. If we don’t stand for something we stand for nothing. God bless America.

Thanks for the post. I love your idea. I plan to do the same thing starting today. I also plan to tell everyone why I am “firing” them.

Thank you and I,m very serious about this. I am single and support my elderly father and he is on board as well.

I will do what scripture tells me to do while hitting the liberals where it hurts the most. In their pocketbook.

I'll treat them with respect and not bad mouth their messiah.

I will not feel like a victim and I will continue to practice self discipline to stick to my plan

Yours is a principled stand. Bless you for it. If only principles mattered to a lot of RINOs, but since they don’t we’ll just have to take matters into our own hands, block by block, store by store, business by business.

It may take a long time, but God-willing, I’m not planning on going anywhere, so let’s
venture on a 20 year trek to make the world a better place for our grandchildren.

You are awesome - this is the spirit of strength and courage. I will accept this challeng and do the same thing. WE MUST vote with our money - make a change in your life - cancel the paper, no longer shop at a local retailer and let them know why. THIS WORKS!

You’ve identified a possible service for FReepers...a directory of businesses, here, where people like us (small business owners) can interact and keep the business where it can do the most good—for us and what we believe. I’d darn sure rather send $$ to a coffee roaster I find here...than the effete Starbucks...our “friends” on the left network...why not us?

Good post with good ideas. Thankfully, my sprinkler guy is a good conservative, because I have no idea how to blow out the system.

That's a great idea! I also forgot to mention that I gave out FR’s website to 4 people this morning I came across to let them know they are not alone.

I live in Parker Colorado and the Fitness 19 is owned by a Christian conservative family. I know they will not mind if I use their name on this forum.

I'm there. I saw an Obama button on a salesperson in a fabric shop, where I will NOT purchase another dollar's worth of goods. I will buy it for more on the internet rather than use their shop.

I have supported an independent book store---no more of that for that Obama voter---nor for the gay antiques dealer in her basement store. Might have to drop all the Mexican restaurants, too, but some of these places are going to go out of business just because of the current bad business cycle. Just read that Whole Foods (an Obama-loving hotspot) is on the verge of going out of business.

Please keep this thread going and if there are national chains or certain products that are known Obama-supporting operations--post them here for others to boycott.

Nothing like spreading the "wealth" and "misery" around...

Today My husband and I are going through the names of companies/people who had out the Omama signs etc.
I am calling on them to let them know I no longer want their business.
I also re-read the boycott thread and wrote down the companies who donated to Obama.
I canceled all magazines and newspapers today as well at Netflix.

Oh, climb down off the cross! My mom told me this morning that O wasn’t her president. America will be here four years from now. We’ll either be a little better off or a little worse off off for the wear and tear. Go eat some dang tacos and hot tamales and quit being a sore loser.

parsy, who don’t think O is going to be a bad president at all.

Good for you!!! It feels great to know that although it is not much, each person can make a difference. The hard part for some will be to continue to practice this and not fall back into old habits of convenience. This is why I made a point of telling the owners why I would not be using their services any longer.
I hate having to eat my words and looking like a fool!!!

I think you are seriously on to something. We should start a Glacier’s List, similar to Craig’s List(but without the pornography and other ugliness), and underwritten by conservatives.

“Climb down off the cross”? Whatever! I’m not a sore loser ding dong. I am practicing my right as a free American instead of whining about the outcome of the election.

If I throw a stick will you leave?

OK--but I have a problem--I love Starbuck's lattes. I even bought a machine and it's not as good as theirs. BUT every Starbucks is rife with Obama-types, I just know it. I know that my hairdresser was for McCain--but her sister in the shoppe was a Bush-hater. So, I can keep the hairdresser but what do I do about the coffee?

Also, Borders and Barnes and Noble are full of liberals--but is Amazon any better? Is there a conservative bookselling website with all the books they sell?

That would be great but I have no idea how to start something like that. Any ideas?

No, I’ll go quietly. But, if you do throw a stick, be careful not to one of them Mexicans. When you do get over your your snit, and you pop in for the Juarez Special one day, you never know what will be in it. I hear they have a long memory.

parsy, who is suddenly hungry for a chimichanga.

I wish I did. Let’s ask around. Most of us know some pretty savvy computer folks.

Wonder if any of the moderators could offer some advice on how we might start such a forum, or would it be better served in a thread with names/contact info for FReepers in business? Just a screen name and website/or e-mail address could reap us all benefits. Why should we give ad money to MSM and liberal outlets to reach conservative businesses?

Just another way to build some community.
