Vanities Arent The Problem (Time For An FR Cleansing)
The Awesome Mind of VaBthang4 ^ | 11/06/08 | VaBthang4

Posted on 11/06/2008 6:27:52 AM PST by VaBthang4

I have been reading some of the crap on this board after the election and some of it is shocking.

I've seen plenty of vanities...but to me vanities aren’t the problem....the messages contained in many of them reflect a mindset that IMHO has no place here.

I've always thought of FR as a place where Conservatives (not Republicans) dominate and idiots kind of hang around the periphery sniping with their stupid notions. But (more and more) you read some of the dumbest crap here...and then see a coterie of nitwits chiming in with their agreement. Allot of it is the type of stuff borne out of mindsets (everything but the truth) that dominate on liberals sites.

IMHO, Jim should boot a grip of these dummies like he has before. They run off and start their own anti-FR websites (that eventually die on the vine). But they do not belong here anymore.

We're not about opposition for the sake of opposition. We (Conservatives) have principles. But you can’t violate your principles while trying to promote them at the same time. Lying, half-truths, vague implications, charges without a shred of evidence, paranoia, etc, etc. That is not how we get down. Or at least shouldnt be.

Some of you all need to check yourselves. And if you don’t, I hope for the good of this website, Jim does.

There have been so many purges over the years, I’m surprised anyone is left.

Nope. I've been on so many threads the last few days I simply can't recall any names. Perhaps one of the Admin Mods might know, although it seems to me that they've had their hands full for quite a while as the election drew closer. This week, though, has been a bit crazy.

"There have been so many purges over the years, I’m surprised anyone is left."

It's funny how actual conservatives step in and take their place.

I know Peach, MiaT, quidnunc, veronica, stuned_beeber, and a bunch of other FReepers were ZOTTED on this thread from April of last year. That was a hugh and series housecleaning.

'Impeach Obama' groups pop up on Facebook

Just a few examples from this one thread (above) alone:

Impeach the obahitler.

It is not about the legal action itself but it is about the constant drumbeat of Impeach the marxist. We need to drive barry’s approval rating below that of Bush's lowest. There will be no honeymoon as barry will rape America not make love to it.

We still don’t know if the Obamafuehrer is a natural born citizen.

Those who want to tuck tail and skulk away may do so, but I intend Continue to fight, to discredit and try to bring Obama down. This election was stolen by a Muslim/Marxist...

Interesting that they know membership data already. And it wouldn’t surprise me if one day, those who signed up on Facebook get a knock on their door. We’ll need our own underground. If this campaign taiught us anything, the Obama minions are tech savvy and have lots of help. Cyber defense is going to be key for us. I hope FreeRepublic has some strong firewalls.

Hmmm. People have a tendency to overdo it a bit right after a big event. Go back and look at the discussions regarding Shamnesty, Harriet Miers, or the Kelo decision.

I think the extremes of sentiment will die down a bit. I hope that the determination to fight will not.

I have been suggesting for some time that we need to have a litmus indicator for who’s posting here. It’s okay if they’re RINOs or liberals or FisconLibertarians, as long as they stop pretending to be conservatives.

I bet you even volunteered to write the test.

Why not?

It’s not Pass/Fail, it’s just choose 1 over the other.

Here’s an example.

Score zero to 5. Zero = I strongly agree, 1= I mostly agree. 3= I can’t say/don’t know/won’t say. 4= I mostly disagree. 5 = I strongly disagree.

The 2nd score would be how much emphasis you put on this issue. All the emphases would add up to 100%. In the example below they don’t add up to 100 because I would expect many more items to be on the list. So a 1.3 indicates 1= mostly agree, and 3% emphasis.

So whenever JimRob updates the litmus indicator, we update our answers and all of us know if we’re dealing with a heavy duty libertarian or a kneepad RINO or whatever.

Jesus is God Himself. JG0.20
Life begins at Conception. LC0.10
Late term abortion is murder. LTA0.5
A woman should have the right to choose abortion in the event of rape. RTCr1.1
A woman should have the right to choose abortion in the event of incest.RTCi5.1
Term limits for congressmen is a good idea.CTL1.3
A balanced budget should be a requirement, with automatic across-the-board cuts taking place if a budget is not agreed to. BBR1.2
I would vote for California’s Proposition 8 (Traditional Marriage defined in its constitution)GM0.4
The flat tax is a good idea. FT2.1
George Bush’s tax cuts were the right thing to do.TC1.2
Illegal aliens should all be deported. DIA0.3
Legal immigration should be reduced.LIR1.3
H1B visas should only go to people who have a PhD. HVP0.3
H1B visas should be awarded in order of pay, highest pay get in first, lowest last.HVO2.2
Vouchers are a good idea for schools.Vou0.3

Basically, you just let other Freepers know where you stand and how that interacts with your other beliefs. So if we find someone supporting Gay Rights on a Prop 8 thread and all of their emphasis is in the Financial Sectors of the litmus indicator, we have an idea that maybe they’re just a RINO. The only time I’ve run across you is on crevo threads. It does not surprise me that you find such a litmus indicator objectionable.

Why not?

To start with, because you didn't even bother to include asking them if they've even read the Constitution.

Stuff your test.
