In Fort Worth, Obama's election prompts run on guns and ammunition
Fort Worth Star-Telegram ^ | November 7, 2008 | ANNA M. TINSLEY

Allan Craig is scared for the country and for himself.

So less than 48 hours after Democrat Barack Obama was elected president, Craig went out to buy an M-4 rifle.

"It’s for protection," the 57-year-old funeral director from Weatherford said. "I’m fearful for our country. I think there will be violence. People want to go in and take over this country . . . trying to destroy America.

"I will protect myself and my family."

Craig is part of a wave of people nationwide who, even before the election, began stocking up on guns and ammunition amid fear that Obama might put new gun restrictions in place after he takes office Jan. 20.

Obama has said he respects the constitutional right to bear arms but said last year that he wants to restore the ban on assault weapons.

The buyers are increasing demand for guns and ammo, swamping stores and causing prices to rise.

Law enforcement officials and Obama supporters say fears about unprovoked violence against Americans, from outside and within, are overblown. And they definitely see no legitimate need for people to rush out and buy weapons.

"People have had all this time to buy whatever they wanted since the assault-weapons ban expired," said Tarrant County Constable Sergio DeLeon, an Obama supporter. "There’s no legislation in place prohibiting them from that. I think a lot of fear has been built up by right-wing radio.

"There’s nothing to suggest that Barack Obama and the new administration would generate any cause for security concerns for the people of this country."

Craig said he’s heard all that and still wants to stock up, and he expects to have a lot of company from others unhappy with the results of the election. "I’m in a state of mourning for our country," Craig said.

From the article: "gun owners have taken the president-elect’s statements and other political talk in recent months to mean Obama might seek a nationwide prohibition on concealed-carry licenses and possibly a huge increase in the federal excise tax on guns and ammunition, said Jim Dark, executive director at the Addison-based Texas State Rifle Association."

I agree with this guy. The Obamanation Nazi brown Shirts are already flexing their power. We must be vigilant and well armed. We cannot let what happened to the Jews in Nazi Germany happen to us.

This article is curious. Not only should we FREEPS be worried about Barack’s gun grabbing tendencies, but Barack is so liberal that if foreign invaders attacked our country he may just go on national TV and say “Don’t perpetrate the circle of violence. Let violence stop with you.”

I’m eyeing an another gun... This time the S&W 442... It’s a hammerless revolver in 38 cal.

I haven't heard any of this fear on "right-wing" radio. I just looked at Obama's statements and his record and decided I'd better buy now.

I bought a box of .45 ACP last night and looked over an AR-15. Dealer said that ammo costs have rose 20% in two weeks! Of course he could just be talking.

I’m looking at a mini 14 in either 6.8 or 5.56, an S&W M&P in .45 or 9mm, and a Ruger SP 101 in 327 mag. Already picked up a 12 gage for home defense.

“Law enforcement officials and Obama supporters...” -— this is spin, every policeman I know (5 or 6 are close friends) strongly encourage gun ownership.

Just more projection. They don’t have a thought in their heads unless it filters down from the democrat collective.

The .327 Mag. is so freakin sweet. It is the new pal of my old 1911. I have 2500 brand new .45acp rounds on the way. Not junk ammo...good stuff.

Just bought about 20 boxes of ammo today. They will begin to “nationalize” in a year or two if they are not checked. I have plenty enough for my sidearm as well as my rifle.

I sincerely hope i never need it.

I look at Obama Osama and I KNOW he is NOT like us. And he would like nothing better than to take out OUR movement.

I’ve been thinking about moving away from my city.
I’m surrounded by socialists and homosexuals and their supporters.

Still have the govt knowing you bought a gun with the background check. Best to buy from a newspaper classified ad to leave no trace for Baraks minons to track you down....or maybe, and let them and get some practice in!
