Odd set of circumstances.

Interesting. I wonder how much the bills were worth to collectors?

The home owner and the worker argued over the split and made a big thing out of it, ending up with little more than frustration.
When you find something, like forgotten money, you really only have 2 choices.

Maybe his honesty will work out and get him more job referrals. This story is a great testimony.
I hope anyway.

What if the contractor found $20 on the guy’s night stand. Is that his too?

The contractor made a big mistake, should have kept his mouth shut...Why the contractor thought he had any right to money is beyond me. If you hired a contractor and they found gold hidden under your stairs would think the same thing?

I don't understand how the contractor would even think he deserved any of the money except a Finders Fee, %10.

Reece obviously stole the $60,000 and probably sold them as collectibles rather than use them as face value.
What a scumbag.

Finders fee or no.
As one who works in other people's homes and properties, nothing found there, either in the open or hidden and uncovered by demolition, is in any way, shape or form, mine.
If the property owner decides to reward, fine. It's their right.
10% should have made this dude happy.
