One of the favorite rallying cries on conservative radio these days is that the president-elect might face demands from his crazed lefty pals to revive the "Fairness Doctrine" to muzzle Rush, Sean and their allies on the right end of the radio dial.
Commentators like Larry Elder of KABC here in Los Angeles have been sounding the warning about the possible imminent return of federal rules mandating that broadcasters balance out political views on radio and television.
Newt Gingrich asserted not long ago that the Democrats certainly would mount "an effort to eliminate freedom of speech for Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity." Limbaugh responded, "It's going to be more than just me and Hannity whose freedom of speech will be done away with via the Fairness Doctrine."

*** BULL EXCREMENT !!!! ***
This guy is delusional... THe RATS will most certainly try to impose some “fairness and neutrality” doctrines on the airwaves and web.
Actaully a fair article and he may be correct....Rush & Hannity gets a LOT of mileage out of this.
Why bother...the Libs own the TV and the Papers and as we’ve seen...they rolled over Conservative talk radio AND the majority of catholic & jewish voters.
Further in the article, Rainey makes two important points:
1. There is no need for the “Fairness Doctrine”
2. It is not likely to be pushed hard, despite comments to the contrary by Schumer and Bingaman.
In fact, here is a direct quote from the article:
“I think Rush and the boys have it right on this one: The free market offers plenty of room for liberals to have their say, even in an era when the vast multitude of radio stations are owned by a few conglomerates.”
PS...WE are no longer a threat....why bother....
What are those strange sound bites they play from different democrats if this is a "false alarm?" Because they are not making them up, nor upon examination quoting out of context.
rainey is a liar... he is a dim... same thing.

Obama is an extreme socialist. If he gets everything on his wish list, he will eventually come for the MSM.
And by the time our intelligent media figures it out, they’ll already be in jail...
Well, Gee, Gomer, the main reason that it's NOT "politically feasible" is that we've raised it as an issue!
So to say that we don't need to talk about it because it's not feasible, is stoopid.
That's how TV stations dealt with it back in the 60's. I'd be watching some crappy movie on a Sunday night(1) then at commercial time some weirdo with a goatee, sunglasses and Frenchie beret would come on and speak his *dissenting viewpoint* and get his 'equal time' per FCC regs.
(1) (for a very short time after graduating HS I worked 3rd shift in a factory so my 'days' were nights.)
Whenever I bring up this concern (or any others about leftist policy) with any dhimmirats that I know,
they usually say something like “oh, don’t worry, they won’t BE ABLE TO DO THAT”.
You know what? I don’t CARE if they are ABLE to do it. It really bothers me that they WANT TO.
See 15.
It’s not whether they’re ABLE to do it or not - it’s that they WANT TO.
There is no question whatsoever the Dems will try to re-impose the fairness doctrine. It would bankrupt a lot of radio stations that would be forced to put on left wing talk radio that would have no sponsors due to zero ratings.
The guy is wrong on two points -
1) It is more of a threat than he insists in the article, though he doesn’t think bringing back the doctrine is because there is so much other left wing balance in other media.
2. How many dems think it’s a good idea. He didn’t even bother to mention that his own state Senator Feinstein is thinking about supporting! You would think that an article in the largest paper in the state of CA that our senator’s point of view on this might be worth mentioning???
“Actaully a fair article and he may be correct”
I agree. But, every dem leader has stated that they WOULD reinstate the doctrine. But there is ample proof that the left is over represented comparitively now. I suspect the current Supreme Court would kick it out in a heartbeat.
I don’t see how even the most rabid Lib Justice could go along with any offered agrument in favor of the thing.
It’s the goal of the extreme left to squash all dissent because they can’t win the argument.
Anybody who says the Dems won’t try to shut down talk radio is delusional.
