Eric Holder Was a Gun Control Nightmare

Barack Obama’s nomination of Eric Holder for attorney general will not sit well with advocates of Second Amendment rights — Holder has consistently championed stronger gun-control measures.

As deputy attorney general in the Bill Clinton administration from 1997 to 2001, Holder “was a strong supporter of restrictive gun control,” according to The Volokh Conspiracy, a Web site that focuses on the legal system and the courts.

He advocated federal licensing of handgun owners, a three-day waiting period on handgun sales, rationing handgun sales to no more than one per month, banning possession of handguns and so-called "assault weapons" by anyone under age 21, a gun show restriction bill that would have given the federal government the power to shut down all gun shows, and national gun registration.

“He also promoted the factoid that ‘Every day that goes by, about 12, 13 more children in this country die from gun violence’ — a statistic that is true only if one counts 18-year-old gangsters who shoot each other as ‘children,’” noted the Web site, founded by law professor Alexander Volokh.

After the 9/11 attacks, Holder wrote an opinion piece for The Washington Post arguing that a new law should give "the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms a record of every firearm sale." He also said prospective gun buyers should be checked against the secret "watch lists" compiled by various government entities.

Earlier this year, Holder — who would become the first African-American attorney general — co-signed an amicus brief in support of the District of Columbia’s ban on all handguns and on the use of any firearm for self-defense in the home.

Holder also played a key role in the snatching of 6-year-old Cuban Elian Gonzalez from his Miami relatives’ home in April 2000, according to the Web site. Gonzalez was...

Odd that the Constitution was specifically designed to shield minority rights from a tyrannical majority. Looks like we have a lot to look forward to.

But don't worry, your library card is safe from the evil Bush-Hitler.

I wouldn't worry. Holder is an affirmative action choice that would not hurt anyone or infringe upon anyone’s rights.

To bad, a McCain - Palin Atty Gen. would not have been a gun grabber.
Some folks had their chance to vote for the only choice
other than Obama and they chose to vote third party or sit at home. Tough luck.

Blue-collar union voters of the nation, rejoice! You voted for Obama, and you won! Sit back and bask in the erosion of your freedoms, and the man you voted for reaches into your home and removes your firearms! Fearless Leader deems that you are useful for voting, but cannot be trusted with a gun.

Remember to tell your Obama-voting frends with the shocked look when he takes away their freedoms, "Hey, YOU voted him in. It's up to you to vote him OUT."

Will you defend McCain and condemn those who chose to vote for “third party” when McCain accepts a job in the 0bama Whitehouse?

I wrote in John Bolton/Sarah Palin and am damn proud of it. If the race would have been even close in my state I would have re-thought my position.

It makes no difference what McCain does as the damage is done, Obama is in, the supposition is moot.

The sad part is that I know people who are not for more gun control and any gun control for that matter but voted for Obama! When asked why, they would say that he couldn’t take away the guns. He doesn’t have all the say. I explained to them that the Democrats would also have the House and Senate. Really they say? I mean don’t people pay attention. This is an example (one of many) where the media didn’t do its job. We really don’t know much about Obama but we’re about to find out!

"watch lists" = Republicans and Libertarians.

FWIW, and we all know it, taking arms away for responsible citizens will do little to remove arms from the criminals. Carnage will increase, and that is a proven fact.

Prohibition laws work in reverse..

Apparently Holder only likes the idea of government agents using guns, as he did when he supported the kidnapping of Elian Gonzalez.

The problem is, the media did their job all too well: hiding, obfuscating, covering up and outright lying to see their guy win... the drive-bys were ALL TOO effective, in case you weren’t paying attention.

I wrote my two U.S. Senators, asking them to oppose the Holder nomination. I can see one of them voting against Holder, but the other is an Obama cheerleader. No way will she oppose anything he does.

Holder opposes, and as AG probably would not enforce, the Heller decision. He's never felt bound by court rulings before.

He was the key man in the pay-for-play pardons of a group of Puerto Rican communist terrorists and of fugitive financiers Marc Rich and Pincas Green. Both groups promised votes, campaign money, and Clinton Library donations for the pardons, and Holder and a former Clinton lawyer named Jack Quinn were the middlemen.

Yep, that's a great AG for you. The policies he's not for sale on, he's wrong.

ILLINOS STATE RIFLE ASSOCIATION

ISRA Alert: County Phone Poll For Gun Control Ordinance Is Still Active

Larry Suffredin and his cohorts on the Cook County Board are up to their old tricks again.

In order to justify passage of gun control ordinances designed to close all gun shops and ban and confiscate most guns owned by citizens of the county, the Cook County Board is conducting a telephone poll where callers can vote for or against the gun control ordinances.

Like everything else in Cook County, this poll is probably rigged. So, it’s very important that you do the following:

1. Call 1-312 -603-6400 and select Option #1 when prompted. At the next prompt, select Option #1 again. Then, when prompted to vote on the gun control ordinance, press #2.

2. You should also forward this alert on to all your gun owning friends and have them vote too.

3. You should also post this alert to any and all Internet bulletin boards or blogs to which you belong.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A RESIDENT OF COOK COUNTY TO VOTE!

Let’s beat Suffredin at his own game! And, save your guns.

There was a Zogby poll right around the election, and the numbers were astounding. Less than 60% knew that the Dems control Congress, but 80%+ (maybe 90%+) knew that Sarah Palin had carried a Down’s Syndrome child to term.
