Why Am I Armed?
My old grandpa said to me, "Son, there comes a time in every mans life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's when he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin'."
I don't carry a gun to kill I carry a gun to keep from being killed.
I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.
I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.
I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.
I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.
I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.
I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.
I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.
I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.
I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.
I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.
Police Protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.
Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin'.
..author unknown (but obviously brilliant)
What flavor is she?
Where's the stapler? ;~)
Absolutely correct. I’m a cop and whenever some victim asks me what they can do to prevent further crime or break ins or whatever, I tell them to get a gun, especially for home defense. The lib’ruls usually recoil in horror but more practical folks understand when I explain to them that not every citizen gets a personal cop. When a crime is occurring and seconds count, we are only minutes away. Fortunately I’m in the West and most folks get it right away.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m 73 and agree 100% with you. Another thing is, as people find out, I don’t fight fair.
By the way one of my “Little Friends” is you namesake in a 7 1/2’ .44..
“wish you could have been here Diane”
Let’s face it, it’s a shame she wasn’t the one who got shot.
I was always respectful of little guys that carried themselves well, but occasionally when I ran into a little guy that used his smallness as a bully (a little guy can challenge the toughest guy sometimes to make points, and it can be awkward for the big guy), I would quietly tell him that not only would I quickly dominate and control him, but that when I finished he would be too embarrassed to ever show his face among his audience again.
With jerks when you can reach them psychologically, but without anyone else knowing it, don’t crowd them and give them room to save face and walk away, then they will (if they think that they may have come across someone that is scary).
...and, I'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six.
Pretty simple, and those principles apply both at the individual and societal level.
I have one Regular and one Bisley Vaquero, both in .45 colt and both 5 1/2”. I shoot cowboy action SASS matches with them, and sometime as a sidearm for deer hunting.
Yep.
Call 911 — and DIE!!!
Well said sir!
No bodyguards,no armored cars, let them take their chances like the peasants
I am also reminded of Suzanna Huff (sp?) who was the woman in the Luby's in Texas that left her gun in the glove box that sad day. Her parents were killed she too has to live with that pain.
Good point and I agree. Never get in anothers face unless he is really asking for it and then jump hard and fast. I always remember what my daddy told me when I was in school. “If you are in a situation that starts with an argument and you know in your mind and heart that it is going to end in a fight...........smack the sucker as hard as you can and stay on him. Don’t wait for him to take a swing.” My daddy was raised on the streets of Los Angeles in the 20’s....very street wise.

Watch how that dickwad, Chucky (rhymes with...never mind!) Schumer, reacts to her words.
I open carry on many occasions. I was hunting earlier in the week and walked into a the gas station in Gerlach with my cammo on and a 9mm on my hip. The very old guy that tends the place looks at the gun and says. Give me an old Colt Peacemaker any day. I smiled and said "I am sure you have one close by." He smiled back and said "Very close, son."
“I don’t carry a gun because I’m a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.”
Amen to that! :)
;)
What a beautiful collection of words. So right. Especially when we fully understand the inadequacies of the enforcement to protect us as individuals. No perfect answer, but my gun makes me a little more safe and secure. Don’t the law ever try to take it away. I’ll never be a slave to communists making us slaves of the state. Our Constitution means nothing to the a@@ wipes that are distorting it.
***I have one Regular and one Bisley Vaquero, both in .45 colt and both 5 1/2.***
I used to have a Colt Bisley. I found it to be the worst designed pistol I have ever used. I like regular Peacemaker designs!
And 1911s
and Browning hi-powers.
ping!
If the police protected people, there would be no crime victims.
