Bobby Jindal and the GOP Don’t Believe in Evolution
US NEWS ^ | 12-4-08 | Farell

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's recent trip to Iowa, where they hold those presidential caucuses every four years, leads me to suspect he may share the media speculation that he could be the Next Great Thing in the Republican Party.

It also reminded me how Jindal signed a dumb and devious bit of legislation last summer, allowing local school districts to promote alternative (i.e., religious) doctrines in their science curriculums when it comes to evolution.

Jindal is obviously one bright guy. How can he equate ancient creation myths with the hard facts of physics and biology?

One might think that the Republicans learned something from the drubbing they took in the 2006 and 2008 elections. But like Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee (and John McCain in 2008), Jindal is apparently happy to cater to the religious right, even if it means teaching superstition in the classroom

Okay, I’m glad you told me this was satire, because these discussions have been going on for a long time. It’s just that we want both “theories” to be presented side by side, given equal time. (that’s the best we can hope for)

As for your latter statements about trends with society/young people - hopefully, these young people will grow up, really grow up. Remember the old saying - “If you’re twenty and not a liberal, you have no heart. If you’re forty (or fifty:-)))) and not a conservative, you have no brain.”

Genesis I:11,12 ( King James .. emphasis mine )

11 And God said, LET THE EARTH BRING FORTH GRASS, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding seed, and the fruit after his own kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: AND IT WAS SO.

12 AND THE EARTH BROUGHT FORTH GRASS, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

God knows the end from the beginning. But so does Satan. Just because some ancient pagan belief has something in common with a biblically true story like Lot and his wife does not disprove the existence of God or His biblical Truths.

You’d do better for yourself spiritually to study God’s Word than some old pictoglyphs that can be construed into anything. :)

Satan deceives with counterfeits. He makes things look interesting and good that are really bad for you. That’s his specialty. So it never surprises me when pagan beliefs seem to coincide or have some reflection in a true Bible account.

“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” - 2 Cor. 11:14

“”A lot of us believe in evolution, it doesn’t negate belief in God. As C.S. Lewis said, Science teaches us how God created the world, the bible teaches us why.””

Wow, I LOVE that and hope I remember it for future conversations with friends. I also was raised that way (as a Presbyterian) that there was no conflict between science and religion.

“How can he equate ancient creation myths with the hard facts of physics and biology?”

Which hard facts of biololgy did you have in mind?

Anyway, I understand that Jindal graduated college with honors, after having majored in biology and public policy. He apparently understands that there’s no reason to be cramming young minds with the twin myths of mutation and natural selection as satisfactory explanations for the emergence of life or the appearance of new species. He’s right.

Evolution might be an adequate theory to explain how one breed of dog became another breed of dog. It’s completely inadequate to explain how tree shrews became human, let alone explaining where the first cell came from.

As one professional biologist told philosopher/mathematician David Berlinski: “Evolution? My dear man, that’s merely the party line.”

>>As C.S. Lewis said, “Science teaches us how God created the world, the bible teaches us why.”

Just goes to show C.S. Lewis was not infallible. :) There was a reason he was involved in that “Ghostly Guild”.

The Bible tells us how God created the world too. It’s in Genesis. Jesus corroborated it. Anyone who doubts Genesis doubts Jesus. Since Jesus was God if you doubt Genesis you doubt God too.

“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called.” 1 Timothy 6:20

God warned us about theories like evolution. “Science falsely so called.” Such is “vain babblings” of men who like to think they have scholarly minds, but who are really reacting to peer pressure of fallen, unsaved men in spiritual darkness.

For all us fundamentalist, the Bible is a blueprint of Gods will from beginning to end. If this is so, then it is by design, not fiat. God has given us a concise and coherent path from the past, the now … and the future. Sounds like a design to me.

However, if you don’t believe in the literacy of the Bible, than I can see your point. Don’t agree, but can see your point.

That’s why the liberals are scared. Jindal actually knows what he is talking about.

Sarah Palin did NOT say that Creationism had to be taught in Alaskan schools. She did not say that Evolution was wrong, either. All she said was that teachers should be PERMITTED to explain that Evolution is a theory, and to talk about the alternatives.

Seems reasonable to me. I’m not a Bible fundamentalist, but I have scientific problems with the general theory of evolution that I think deserve some discussion. And I think the kids need to be reminded that, even after all these years, it is still a THEORY. Intraspecies evolution is not controversial, but general evolution as the basic explanation for how things are raises all sorts of statistical difficulties.

It bugs me when the secularists and leftists insist that theirs is the only truth, and that no other positions or discussion will be tolerated in our schools.

I presume the same is probably true of Bobby Jindal.

Actually, Satan and his critters have difficulty imagining events two or three steps down the road. They're like Democrats and Liberals.

So, no, Satan doesn't know the "end" ~ beyond what God tells him, if He feels like it, and I doubt He feels like it much.

I didn’t quite understand your post. If you attributed all the words in my initial post to me, respectfully, you mis-read that post. But, in any event, please understand that I have not one thing against Gov. Jindal- I just posted what I thought was an unfair “hit” piece on him -—and conservatives generaly.

“”God? Isn’t that the same fella Obama allegedly believes in?””

Well, I recall him saying during the primaries (when trying to prove his “Christianity”) that he “prayed to Jesus every night”. Well, all Christians know that we pray to God the Father (in Jesus’ name, Amen). We pray through Jesus, not TO Jesus.

BTW, more than one pagan group in the history of mankind has come upon the notion that human sacrifice was not a good thing ~ God does talk to everybody whether they listen to Him or not.

So that Rastafarian woman I was talking to the other day was right after all.

>>So, no, Satan doesn’t know the “end”

Yes, he does, because he reads God’s Word too. Remember, “Yea, hath God said?” Remember when he quoted scripture to Jesus in the wilderness?

God’s Word tells us how Satan will end up, so Satan knows that too. That’s why he is filled with hatred and wants to destroy the people who have anything to do with preaching the Word of God.

You can believe in both, and you can also be wrong. The problem is people try to “figure” out God and why he does the things he has done. We are incapable of figuring out God or his plan. Just be a Christian and follow Christ, read his Word, and live in his will.

It’s you that is forcing your own concepts onto the words. That’s because you feel constrained to Believe. For this to be so, it has to be something compatible with your view of the world, and apparently this doesn’t include creation by fiat.

BTW, Webster’s says that “fiat” is Latin for “let it be done”, and this is exactly the verbal formula which is repeated in Genesis I. God creates the world LITERALLY by fiat.

Nope, sorry. Government knows best. The only choice you have is abortion.
