Obama: Gun owners do not need to stock up
Chicago Sun Times ^ | December 7, 2008 | ABDON M. PALLASCH

Posted on 12/07/2008 7:27:30 PM PST by An Old Man

As gun sales shoot up around the country, President-elect Barack Obama said Sunday that gun-owning Americans do not need to rush out and stock up before he is sworn in next month.

...

But National Rifle Association spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said it's not Obama's words — but his legislative track record — that has gun-buyers flocking to the stores.

...

"Anyone who thinks they need to rush out and buy a firearm clearly has not been paying attention to how quickly we make progress on this issue. We don't think these are first-time buyers. We think they are people who already have more than enough guns at their homes to protect themselves and are buying more."

Research prices online, then sell it locally through the want ads (assuming you are in a free state) so that the feds can’t track the sale.

If it comes to that, it's too late. At this point thousands of " Henry Bowman" types will start taking out the people that sent the cops in the first place.

Henry Bowmans all over would be smart to know whom all the anti-gunners are, where they live, and what they look like... Starting with the dog catcher, JP, city aldermans, school boards, mayors, on up the food chain...

...of course this is all book fiction, right?!

Actually, this tells me that Obambi is scared... very scared. I think he’s expecting a revolution or something should he step out of line. He may not be as stupid as he looks...

This is NOT an Obama quote, but a quote from Peter Hamm, spokesman for the Brady Campaign against Gun Violence.

Please be careful with your excerpting.

Wow, that would make for a great fictional story as you say.

I don't believe a word this SOB says, and I'm not going to start now. If anyone needed a green light, the fact that he raised an issue means it is on the table.

Exactly. Anyone who thinks Dear Leader doesn't intend to ban ban ban and even confiscate has been Obotomized.

All citizens who believe strongly in the Second Amendment should read the novel Unintended Consequences to become familiar with Henry Bowman.

Then what’s it to him that people are buying guns? What’s so bad about it that he feels he needs to tell people not to do it?

“I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the second amendment,” Obama said at a news conference. “Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven’t indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word.”

Having read your about page, first let me thank your family for their years of service in dealing with Florida’s lawless population of two legged predators.

However, as one whose religious history covers thousands of years of oppression, I feel safe in noting that IF America ever sends people to take the guns from Americans, then that administration means to do terrible things to those it disarms.

The following is from Winston Churchill, and bears remembering:

“If you will not fight when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

New Hampshire car tags have it right - Live Free Or Die.

Obama may well be all his detractor say, but he does not want to destroy the Democratic party, and every two years, there is another election.

Gun grabbing is a political ‘third rail’.

May it always be so.

You don’t want to remove the choke tube, that will ruin it.

You should replace it with a IC or cyl tube if you want more spread in the shot pattern.

Most hunting shotguns will come with a mod tube if only one comes with the gun.

Wow! I can't believe some of the stupid posts you received on you question about the choke tube.

Don't remove the tube and fire the gun without a tube in it!

It will ruin the threads in the end of your barrel. Take you tube out and read what it says on it...XF F M IC Cyl.

XF is extra full, it is a very tight pattern. Cyl is no choke restriction at all and a wide pattern.

You may want to get an IC ( improved cylinder) tube for close range shooting, but never fire the gun without one of the various tubes installed because it will ruin the tube threads and render you barrel worthless.

BTW- the end of the barrel has a little part that can be unscrewed and removed from the inside of the barrel. It’s about 3 inches long.

Anyone know what or why or the purpose.

It's called a choke. It controls how much the shot spreads out as it leaves the barrel. The tighter (smaller) the choke tube, the farther the shot spreads before it begins to spread and lose velocity.

A more open choke (larger internal diameter) spreads faster, and would be used for closer in work. A tighter choke (smaller internal diameter) is used for shooting at targets farther away (think geese flying overhead). Having a removable choke allows the gun owner to adjust to changing shooting conditions without having to own multiple barrels.

If you REALLY want to see a spread pattern, once by mistake I fired buck through a rifled barrel meant for slugs. Hit the target in a doughnut pattern.

The people who are buying are likely to already be owners, who are buying because they know their relatives and friends may not see it coming, but are going to want to be supplied when it finally comes.

I walked into a local gunshop last week. On the bulletin board was a picture of Obama with the caption “Employee Of The Month”.

The place was pretty well picked over.

Like I believe him??. . .

With the unsettled question of amnesty for illegal aliens who have no regard for our law and literally give us the middle finger and importing murders, robbery and burglary, I am buying my first gun
