A 51-year-old woman yelling "Go Gators" during Florida's victory over Alabama in the Southeastern Conference championship game had a gun pointed at her by a convicted felon who entered her apartment after he misunderstood the cheering for racial slurs, Orange County sheriff's deputies said.
Bruce Cooper, 30, was arrested on charges of armed burglary with a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated assault with a firearm.
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Cooper entered the woman's home through an unlocked or open door at about 5 p.m. in the Kingswood Apartments, located on Lee Road, and pointed a gun at her.
The woman and others inside the apartment told the man to leave, and he eventually complied, said deputies, who found Cooper behind the woman's apartment with a .22-caliber six-shot revolver in his back pocket.
It was later realized that Cooper is a convicted felon on multiple cocaine charges.
What the heck could he mistake as racist in Go Gators?
On the other hand, who cares, it was her appartment.
LLS
I thought the question would be whether to call the sheriff during or after the game?
Well, I guess I’m a racist. GO GATORS!!
Class of 67 (Spurrier’s class, and no, I didn’t have classes with him.)
But but felons aren't allowed to have guns. It's the law.
The paperwork I filled out for the background check even had me attest to that fact (despite the fact that they were going to run me anyway).
Maybe gun laws don't work. (/don't make me)
True story. When visiting my son after he came home from Iraq. He was stationed in Geargia. We brought along our Jack Russell Terrier who’s name happens to be Digger. Early one morning about daylight I took him for a walk and he got of his leash, I went to call him, “Here Digger, Digger, Digger. A black lady came out from around the corner and froze in her tracks, untill she saw the dog show up and she remembered him from the evening before. That was a close one.
When I was a kid there were several black dogs in my neighborhood named “the N word”. Yeah, I grew up in a classy neighborhood.
...I hope you both laughed after that one! ...
You should re-name that dog Dafrican Damerican before you git yo’self in trouble!
With a southern drawl being yelled out, he may have mistaken it for go n.....
As Rick James said, cocaine is a b&&ch. Can mess with a mans hearing.
Good news is the fella is heading back to jail.
Yeah, but any self respecting Gator fan would have been three sheets to the wind by the time this idiot came along, so it’s probably a good thing none of them pulled a gun on him.
Heck, back when I was a kid, I figured that was the name of the breed.
Rick James said, "Cocaine's a hell of a drug."
Yes we did but I can not describe the look on that young ladies face other than complete horror, she was scared.
“What the heck could he mistake as racist in Go Gators?”
Perhaps he is of Reptilian humanoid ancestry, James Carville is proof that they exist, or he could just be an idiot that sees everything as racist.
You are correct.
I’m Rick James, bi*ch.
I’m trying to come up with every possibility (accentuation, inflection, etc.) of how “Go Gators” could result in a racial slur. I can’t think of one.
Was the woman white?
Perhaps white enthusiasm (or happiness?) is now considered racist?
I myself burned down six buildings in my grief.
Have some compassion on us Bama fans!
