David Spade donates $100K to Phoenix PD for rifles

The Phoenix Police Department received a donation from Valley native and Saturday Night Live alum David Spade Monday morning.

Spade, who stars on the CBS sitcom "Rules of Engagement," stopped at a northeast Phoenix precinct to give Police Chief Jack Harris a check.

Mayor Phil Gordon and other local officials also were there.

A police spokesman says Spade called police last week asking to donate to the rifle program.

Police and the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association have been working toward getting at least 300 rifles for patrol officers.

Spade, 44, grew up in Scottsdale and still has family in Arizona.

They certainly are; almost every single officer death last year in Phoenix was at the hands of illegal aliens... even the stupid mayor of Phoenix had to (publicly at least) rethink his sanctuary city policy.

most cops aren't well armed. usually a glock .40 and an 870, the lucky ones get an AR15. but there's a difference between patrol officers and and the SWAT teams that have suppressed MP5s, M4s, kimber 1911s, tactical rifles, high quality optics, night vision, SEAL and/ or FBI training, etc.
SWAT is what needs to go away.

Did you really need the photo op and publicity?

Actually there was no presser except from the chief AFTER Spade had left. Spade wanted to help after seeing the story on the news about the PPD line animals wanting to buy their own AR's.

He didn't do it for any publicity, he did for a city he really loves and calls home.

that’s the difference i’m trying to point out. these AR15s are for uniformed, patrol officers. The guys that politely knock if they have to come to your door. the one’s that are supposed to be the first responders to crimes.
