SWEET CAROLINE: I'M SET TO SERVE
NY Post ^ | December 27, 2008 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

Caroline Kennedy broke her silence with the start of a media blitz yesterday, defending her qualifications to replace Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and confidently saying she's up to the job.

Kennedy sat for half-hour interviews with The Associated Press and NY1 after two weeks in which the controlled rollout of her candidacy raised questions about her credentials.

The 51-year-old daughter of John F. Kennedy told NY1 last night, "There are many ways to serve. I think I have been serving my community up until now, and I think I'm ready to take the next step."

She added, "When this opportunity came along, it seemed like . . . I really ought to give it some thought. This is something that I've always thought, one day, in the future."

Later, she acknowledged, "I would be an unconventional choice - I haven't followed a traditional path, but I think I bring a lifetime of experience to this.

...and then there is Al Franken. Celebrities. People living in this country just can’t get the stars out of their eyes and face reality.

The arrogance of Caroline Kennedy knows no bounds, apparently. She has been living off the family money and her name all of her life, doing no heavy lifting in the career world (although I’m sure she’s put much energy into raising her children). Now perhaps with her children grown she wants a job—how convenient that a Senate seat has opened up!

That seat, of course, should go to someone WHO HAS EARNED IT. However, we all know that none of the Kennedys think this way. Max Kennedy decided to run for office in Massachusetts a number of years back. His first public appearance put the kibosh on that, as he came off as totally clueless and not up to the job. None of us in Massachusetts knew anything about him, but I guess he figured that we’d just fall in line because he was a Kennedy. Will Caroline have to reconsider her ambition like Max Kennedy did? I hope so.

I would like to be King of England. I haven’t done much to deserve it but think I deserve it nonetheless. So, Queen Elizabeth, when you pass from the scene, I’m the obvious choice because I have now publicly expressed an interest in the job and I never heard Prince Charles or his sons say a word about it.

Why wouldn't poor Max feel that he deserved it. After all Mass has been reelecting his fat, dumb, drunk, criminal father (uncle?) Ted year after year. And then of course there's Patches over there in RI. When he's not driving his car drunk he's over in the Capital Building showing everybody just how dumb he actually is.

And, let's not forget RFK Jr. Thankfully he's left politics to save the environment. Stopping just long enough to run to Hugo Chavez for some cheap oil bribes. At least he's safely away from being able to vote on any new laws since he may be the dimmest of them all. Well, OK, maybe that's not fair, after all the competition is mightly strong and he hasn't been caught bang'n the 15 year old baby sitter yet.

How is this not the height of obsurdity, when Peter King of New York is more qualified? This is more of the same typical Chicago type dirty politics .. Ihate to be a wet blanket on Ms. Kennedy but obviously croneyism is the norm of the day in politics

LOL, Marlon! Joe Kennedy is the one dealing with Chavez, I think. He runs Citizens Energy, and I’ve read in the past that he pays himself a handsome salary for ministering to “the poor.” Shame on him, with all his grandfather’s wealth!

Joe Kennedy also tried to annul his marriage after many years and many children, in order to get married in the Catholic church again. He backed off when his spurned wife took it public, making him look foolish and probably giving the Vatican cold feet about even considering such an annulment.

All of the Kennedys seem to be total hypocrites (offshoring hundreds of millions as a tax shelter, for example, while they tax the daylights out of the middle class), with a king-sized sense of entitlement.

The best Kennedy joke, told by Jay Leno in the wake of the William Kennedy Smith rape trial (paraphrased): Did you hear that the Kennedys are selling their Palm Beach house? It has two stories: The real story and the one the Kennedys tell the police.

RFK Jr. was on the tube a few weeks ago, his face a ringing endorsement of drug and alcohol abuse. His speech was stammered and halting and he had two or three facial tics that jiggered across his face when he tried to speak. It was pitiful.

or takes up another position

Like goes to jail for; breaking their oath of office to defend and preserve the Constitution, abusing the power of their office, legislates by accepting bribes and payoffs, misappropriates funds, incessantly lies to deny screwing the public for self gain, ........ Oh yeah, this is 2008 so let us all welcome to the US Senate, Senator "Her Royal Princess" Caroline Kennedy. She will do exactly as instructed just like uncle Teddy because they know what happens when you don't

At least God sees us all as equals.

The problem with the Kennedys is that their hair sucks all of the nutrients and life from their brains. They are really nothing short of baboon or gorilla genus. Coincidentally, take a look at Blago....he’s the closest one I’ve seen in a long time that could be a gorilla.

Hey, Minnesota is saying if you’re a blind, fat comedian who wears a diaper, and has a bunch of people steal the election for you, you could be a senator.

Sweet Caroline is ready to serve, but only if an appropriate position can be found. Unlike her father, who campaigned through the three deckers of Charlestown, Ms Kennedy wants to limit her campaigning to the penthouses of Manhattan.
