Beleaguered Citigroup is upgrading its mile-high club with a brand-new $50 million corporate jet - only this time, it's the taxpayers who are getting screwed.
Even though the bank's stock is as cheap as a gallon of gas and it's burning through a $45 billion taxpayer-funded rescue, the airhead execs pushed through the purchase of a new Dassault Falcon 7X, according to a source familiar with the deal.

For consistency, I demand the same transparency being applied to Citi to applied to recipients of welfare, WIC, food stamps or any other government gimme.
The Gulfstream G650 delivery is not until 2012. Citi will be long gone by then. Don’t know when Pepe Le Pue’s plane is available.
This jet will pay for itself in one flight - hauling cash to stash in Dubai or the Cayman Islands.
The jet you are wailing about was completed in LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. Only the “bare bones” (enough to legally fly) of the aircraft was built in France, then it was flown to Little Rock for paint, interior, all avionics options and wiring, etc. Most of the engineering and work was done here, in AMERICA, by AMERICAN employees. I know this because I work at Dassault Falcon Jet Center. If you and the others keep it up, I will be unemployed along with thousands of others here in the USA and the aviation industry will get in line for a bailout.

Please see my reply above.
Most of the work on this jet was done in Little Rock, Arkansas. That’s in the United States, not France. DFJC employs thousands of people here and brings in millions of dollars of revenue to Arkansas and the US.
Oh. Never mind.
Obambi promised transparency ask him, Frank, Dodd why banks are purchasing other bad banks and now need more....you know the MSM isn't going to ask...there's just so much more time.....remember this is a crisis...OBambi said so, even though he hasn't a clue (that's where the real crisis exist)
Well....if THAT’S the case...that is good.
ok, the French only get 35 million
So, the French get 70%?
around that...the following from Aviation/Now mag....
Over 40 customers have put down non-interest bearing deposits on Dassault Falcon Jet’s next-generation, $35 million Falcon 7X business aircraft even before designers have locked in the final details.
Well, they CAN get out of town faster (and further) now.
It is past the time for jokes about tar and feathers. Only
the most dire consequences will deter executives from taking every liberty they can.
LOL.
Human just don’t spend “found” money as carefully as they do earned money. This would appear to include bankers.
I know the company. They have American sales reps, staff, etc. The planes are not built with 100% French-made parts. Some of that money kicked back to the USA.
Ultimately, why give them the money if you don't expect them to spend it. I'm not for giving them the money in the first place, to be honest, but to call foul when they actually do spent it strikes me as very immature.
They were supposed to use it to make loans to Americans. Quite Frankly, Citi Group should not have received a nickel of Government money. The money should have only gone to DOMESTIC banks and not to International Conglomerates like Citi Group.
look, why don’t we just let the businesses that will fail,
fail;
and let the survivor businesses pay their execs as they wish
and buy what they want.
i don’t care.
