It's been a year since Mitt Romney dropped out of the Republican presidential race, but he remains an influential conservative voice particularly on economic issues. The former Massachusetts governor and star business consultant earned ovations at a House Republican retreat in January and recently signed on to headline a major Senate GOP dinner in April. He spoke with TIME about Obama's Oval Office debut, what's wrong with the economic stimulus bill and what his own future may hold.

Happy birthday President Reagan, I am sad that there are those claiming your mantle whilst their sycophants are dragging you down at the same time.
Because you “REDS” are always sticking us in the rear. Honey.
If it’s R flavored Kool Aid it tastes much better. So I hear.

Heh.
We may hurt a bit but I think we may survive this thing after all.
{Ahem!} I've said that all along. I've said we were in for a bumpy ride (and I believe we are just starting on that path), but that Americans are more resilient than a lot of the doom-and-gloomers realize and we'll survive this.
Oh, we'll have quite the mess to clean up, but I think we'll make it.
I've been watching Americans clean up some pretty big messes over the past few years and they've done a remarkable job of it. Now, we'll just have to switch venues. ;-)
But that was against Mccain, so do you really want that as a claimed victory? Should it be?
The question has been his conservatism, not his personal life or his religion. If he was all that his fans here claimed, it would have been 75% Mitt WITH Fred and Duncan STILL in the balloting.

BS. Romney was a consistent loser on FR.
Over and over.
Both before and after the election.
FRee Republic Member Opinion
WINNER - Thompson 66.8% 1,658
LOSER --- Romney 12.7% 315
Post Election Rasmussen poll - GOP voters:
WINNER - Palin -- 64%
LOSER --- Huckabee -- 12%
LOSER --- Romney -- 11%
Hope all is well... stay safe and enjoy your leave!

You make a stupid comment like that in a public forum and you own it. You'd better be prepared to deal with the consequences. Rudeness, by the way, is not an optimum way to deal with it.
he remains an influential conservative voice

This is Scrapple Face, right ????
Ain’t it a hoot ?
The cattle have to be driven back in the gate by bad circumstance sometime, and we are still not there yet.
Of course that is what happens when left to their own, they tend to just wonder in the field and don't realize they need to head in until all the grass is eaten, and the Dems are burning up the grass real quick.
Fortunately we conservative are good at getting they hey out and showing the cows how to plant their own grass again after the government grass is gone.
Best to you and yours.
Hell it didn’t work the first time.
Supporting amnesty and deficit spending should be cause for removal.

Now in his defense Ram is right, Mitt did well when the herd thinned out here on FR.
Of course given a choice between a wood splinter in the thumb and final stage colon cancer, most would opt for getting out the tweezers also...
It worked with 11% of FR and that is just too many people being fooled!
LLS
Of course the deficit was to defeat the SOVIET UNION via rebuilding our Military, and was paid back...
I'd call it a bargain.
The other was a bad deal made worse. If Reagan saw how it was later used as a basis for more illegal immigration, instead of the original deal to end it, well I think he would have done otherwise.
