I did see this thread when it was posted. I figured there would be more than enough people who would say, "I woulda come but ..." and so Jim didn't need me to say the same thing, even though in my case it's true. I'm visiting my mom in South Florida with my wife and we have tickets to come north for Monday evening. I just don't think my wife would be keen on my rearranging things to be in Washington earlier in the day.

They have shut off the people. They are no longer our representatives.

When were they ever our representatives? They got into politics and government in the first place in order to to get what they want, namely the power to run other people's lives, not what we want. I knew some of those kind of people way back in high school and college, and you probably did too. They were pompous, insufferable, self-appointed control freaks then and they still are today. If they actually worked to put the Constitutionally guaranteed rights and overall welfare of the people before their insatiable lust for power and their perverted ideas of what the US should be, the nation wouldn't be in the mess it's in now. Once they get our votes and take office they couldn't care less what we want until they need our votes again.

It probably wouldn't do any good to throw them all out and start over again, although that wouldn't be a bad idea. The people now in government who want to run our lives would just change places with another gang who also want to run our lives. I believe that something is wired up incorrectly in the psyche of people who want to run other people's lives, and IMHO that faulty wiring is responsible for 98% of the problems with government at every level from the county commission board to the White House.

Love it, Spirit. We’ve got to take every opportunity to defund the Left where ever they don’t control the votes.

I am unemployed and have all the time in the world. Just no money to travel. I would love to go. 30 years ago I would hitchhike without concerns for my safety. But there are too many unsafe blue states between us.

I would love to join but I am sitting in Iraq still. I wish even more people could show up but unlike the lefties most freepers have jobs that we can’t just walk away from for a few days. But I have written all my elected officials and obama expressing my displeasure with this stimulus crap.

Post pics of the demonstration.

I’ve posted this multiple times and do so again for those who might have missed it.

An astute student of history and human nature, Thomas Jefferson, predicted what we see happening here in America. As ambassador in France, he witnessed the run up to the FIRST socialist/communist revolution there. He penned the following observations concerning what would happen HERE should that socialism come to the United States. He CORRECTLY predicted that we would become an increasingly contentious and litigious people as we shouldered one another out of the way to get OURS from the public trough and the trough would soon be empty.

He also knew where the bulk of the problem would originate.

That whirring noise you may hear coming from that mountain in Charlottesville, Virginia is Mr. Jefferson getting up to around 3600 RPM.

(A 6 minute video with this information may be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypLu49pq3bI)

“The mobs of the great cities add just so much to the support of pure government as sores do to the strength of the human body. It is the manners and spirit of a people which preserve a republic in vigor. A degeneracy in these is a canker which soon eats to the heart of its laws and constitution.” —Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia Q.XIX, 1782. ME 2:230

“I think our governments will remain virtuous for many centuries as long as they are chiefly agricultural; and this will be as long as there shall be vacant lands in any part of America. When they get piled upon one another in large cities as in Europe, they will become corrupt as in Europe.” —Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1787. Papers 12:442

“I view great cities as pestilential to the morals, the health and the liberties of man. True, they nourish some of the elegant arts; but the useful ones can thrive elsewhere; and less perfection in the others, with more health, virtue and freedom, would be my choice.” —Thomas Jefferson to Benjamin Rush, 1800. ME 10:173

“Our cities... exhibit specimens of London only; our country is a different nation.” —Thomas Jefferson to Andre de Daschkoff, 1809. ME 12:304

“Everyone, by his property or by his satisfactory situation, is interested in the support of law and order. And such men may safely and advantageously reserve to themselves a wholesome control over their public affairs and a degree of freedom which, in the hands of the canaille of the cities of Europe, would be instantly perverted to the demolition and destruction of everything public and private.” —Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, 1813. ME 13:401

“An insurrection... of science, talents, and courage, against rank and birth... has failed in its first effort, because the mobs of the cities, the instrument used for its accomplishment, debased by ignorance, poverty, and vice, could not be restrained to rational action. But the world will recover from the panic of this first catastrophe.” —Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, 1813. ME 13:402

“I fear nothing for our liberty from the assaults of force; but I have seen and felt much, and fear more from English books, English prejudices, English manners, and the apes, the dupes, and designs among our professional crafts. When I look around me for security against these seductions, I find it in the wide spread of our agricultural citizens, in their unsophisticated minds, their independence and their power, if called on, to crush the Humists of our cities, and to maintain the principles which severed us from England.” —Thomas Jefferson to Horatio G. Spafford, 1814. ME 14:120

If there are going to be any children there, how about having them hold signs, suggestion: “Help! We’re drowning under all this debt you are forcing us to pay for your totally useless pork projects” or “President Obama, you are burying us and our children yet unborn with all this debt so you can pay back your campaign supporters!”

Because it’s the children who will have this massive debt strangling them.

I worked for a candidate once who did win. That candidate was bossy and difficult. I agree with you: it takes that kind of person to run. A “normal” person would not be like that, thus they wuld not win. I guess there is no such thing as “Mr Smith goes to Washington”

If someone sets up a general fund to get FReepers there who have the time but not the available money to attend, count me in.

Time is short, so let’s brainstorm quickly.

Maybe have FReepers who would go if we could crank this out could “sign up” on this or a new thread just dedicated to this effort to sponsor a FReeper, then prices could be located, while at the same time we could all pitch in to cover the expenses?

For example, I could kick in $200. If several of us did that, it could cover one FReeper’s trip.

If more money was raised than is needed, maybe it could be held in an account for future FReeps?

Thoughts on ways to get this done ASAP?

I talked to him last night. He is a no go. I feel the same, that it is short notice. I have called my Senators, you and Mole may want to do the same.

I told the Senators that it is immoral to spend our children’s money.

It’s probably too late to set this up for this time around, but maybe something can be set up now for future FReeps so that if there are last-minute plans this fund would already be in place.
