I am a native Texan. My wife is from Philadelphia. She has trouble understanding why I’m so proud to be Texan. She will learn.

***But the US government broke that promise to the Republic of Texas after they joined, killed many of the Cherokees removing them and ran the rest to Mexico***

As far as I’m concerned, that right there nullified any agreement we made with the US government. They broke it first, so why should we be held to it?

In the end, I don’t think it matters much. If we want to be free, we will be. See Tag Line.

Yes. In real life it’s heartbreakingly beautiful, and by “heartbreaking” I mean actual tears-in-your-eyes. Imagine that scene, but stretching to the horizon in all four directions — the photo doesn’t begin to do it justice.

Of course, by the end of March the heat comes back and kills off everything but the Black-Eyed Susans, but that’s Texas for you!

don't feel bad that you weren't BORN Texican.

NOBODY living today is the descendant of a Texas NATIVE. we're all "relative newcomers".

NOT even the AmerIndians (like me for example) are descendants of TEXAS Indians.

(our family was one of "The Refugees" that fled the fury of the Army & the "Georgia Pony Clubs" in 1818 for New Spain/Texas-Coahualia & settled in/around what is now Smith/Gregg County, TX.===> note: there are about 800 familes that trace our lineage to "the Long Walk from Georgia".)

I was mostly joking though, Texas is good. It’s too hot, but it’s good.

I caught it, all good. Too hot? It's been VERY cool compared to say the 80's down here. Then again I live 50 miles from the border of Oklahoma so we've pretty much got the same weather.

Sure about that? I’m a descendant of the Mt.Tabor, Rusk County, Texas Cherokees. The Cherokee settled and occupied most of 3 counties for decades, c. 1820-1880 and beyond. Many of my ancestors are buried there. In fact, Stand Watie lived there.

did you read what i posted???= my family was ON the long trek across the south in 1818.

once more, there are NO surviving descendants of the ORIGINAL Texas AmerIndians. NONE.

EVERY one of the current tribes, which are resident in TX, came to TX in the 19th or 20th centuries.

We found our house on realtor.com.

Once we picked out three that we liked in our price range we located an agent who was connected to one of the houses and made arrangements for a week long trip to look at the properties.

Where in Texas are you interested in moving?

Yeah, I read what you posted. Did you read what I posted? Why all the snarkiness?

BTW, if you’re born in this country YOU are a NATIVE American.

Or you can just help keep us all divided. This ‘tribal’ BS needs to stop.

Our Governor Perry was considering turning the money down. When the Congress Critters got wind of this, they wrote a provision into the bill making it impossible for the state governments to not accept the money.

Shoving it down our throats, as it were.

Just for that, I think there may be a lawsuit coming... I hope.
