Knock, Knock...anyone home at the White House?

Two excellent analyses today that delve into the mystery of what kind of leadership President Obama has demonstrated so far.

The answer is not much at all. His lack of management skills are showing as his administration has lurched from gaffe to gaffe, while demonstrating inexplicable detatchment from detals.

First, Karl Rove:

Nevertheless, this fast start can't overcome a growing sense the administration is winging it on issues large and small.

Take the vetting of cabinet nominees. Mr. Obama's aides ignored a federal investigation of New Mexico's Gov. Bill Richardson that started last August for a possible pay-for-play scandal. Mr. Richardson had to withdraw after being named to become secretary of commerce.

The administration treated as inconsequential the failure of its choices for Treasury secretary and White House performance officer, as well as its labor secretary-designate's spouse, to pay taxes. It failed to uncover Tom Daschle's problems with more than $102,943 in previously unpaid taxes, penalties and interest -- and once it did, aides assumed Mr. Daschle would be given a pass.

Team Obama promised Gen. Anthony Zinni he'd be ambassador to Iraq, then cut him loose without explanation. After the Bill Richardson fiasco, it romanced Republican Sen. Judd Gregg for commerce secretary -- then ignored his advice on the stimulus and wouldn't trust him with running the department, moving supervision of the Census into the White House. Mr. Gregg withdrew himself from consideration.

Then there is the stimulus itself. Mr. Obama's economic team met with congressional leaders in December to green light a bill costing up to $850 billion. But they described less than $200 billion of what they wanted in the envelope.

The administration outsourced writing the monstrosity while using White House pollsters to help the Democrats sharpen the message.

"Is there a separate, uh, executive order, Greg, with respect to how we're going to dispose of the detainees? Is that, uh, written?"

What was that order I signed Radar?

Decision making based off of public opinion is not management or Presidential. One reason he is still Mr. Obama to me. He is not a President. The best part is that I am sure the government is now pouring over websites like Free Republic and will attempt to obtain the identity of all of us. We are on a list, or soon to be.

I have some young people who work for me. Some of them liked Obama. Then i showed them his plan to have all people under 25 do some civilian security training. They sure jumped off that ship fast.

Obama can choose to stay in the executive suite and run the business. Or, he can squander his time and brawl in the streets. His choice.

All Obama’s blunders are of no importance, because they will never come to the attention of the brainless rabble that will still be cheering for Obama as it is herded into death camps.

Obama is NOT blundering on the things he cares about: Spending that has already reached psychotic levels. The PURPOSE of this explosion in spending is to CAUSE HYPERINFLATION. Obama’s newest spending spree, the $275 billion housing bailout, is confiscation of wealth, not merely spending. Hyperinflation is the most efficient way to confiscate the wealth of “the rich.” It doesn’t require any herding of the rich into camps, or trucks to carry away their furniture, clothing, etc.

If there is even a pretense of an election in 2010, we are going to see beatings by mobs of thugs on election day. Or rather, we aren’t going to see them. But they are going to happen.

I’ve thought that overheating inflation was the biggest danger of porkulus and the bailouts. The political payoffs buried in the “stimulus” package are evil but doing things to demolish the value of the dollar will effect each and every American and make life impossible for many, thus providing one more manufactured crisis to enable power-mad Washington liberals to gain yet more control over our lives.

I will bet that he will not make it the full 4 yrs. Obama and friends will implode. They are already out of control, their ego’s will not be reined in. Look, he won the election, it was NOT a landslide and there were still many millions of citizens that did not vote. That does not mean those who didn’t vote don’t see what is going on. As for the press, sure they will try to cover for him, but as he becomes more outrageous, he will turn on them as well. Look for approval ratings below 30% by summer.

By 2010, the dems will have had 2 yrs. to show their asses, for the past 8 yrs. they have been under the radar, they used Bush’s 8 yrs. for cover now they are front and center and it ain’t pretty.

I think you underestimate Obama and his ability to shape public opinion along with the complicit MSM. Obama will blame Bush for his failure and take credit for any success even if he had nothing to do with it. Make no mistake, the porkulus bill will have a positive impact in the short term as Obama, aka Santa Claus, showers his hundreds of billions on his Dem constituents. 95% of the American people will be getting a check from the Messiah. He will use the WH on a daily basis as campaign headquarters. IMO this guy will be there for 8 years.

....I showed them his plan to have all people under 25 do some civilian security training. They sure jumped off that ship fast.

I'm surprised kids didn't swoon over the idea. It seems like most of them dream of some cushy, fun and adventurous job that is out there just waiting for them to find it. Of course, they never find it, so a lot of them just wait and wait and wait to go to work.

On the same note - I have wondered about this "volunteer plan" that Obama proposes for our youth. (It conjures up pictures of Nazi smooth-faced boys boot-stepping in their crisp uniforms.) I've heard what I think are two different things. One is the required "Civilian Security Training" that all will be required to fulfill. The other is about giving every college student free tuition in return for a period of voluntary community service immediately after graduation.

Are these one and the same or two different programs?

What I cannot imagine is how you motivate someone who is REQUIRED to volunteer. I would hate to be a hospital administrator (example) who is told to take 200 college student and find something for them to do. I would have to hire people to manage them and hope and pray that they have any kind of work ethic. My gut feeling is, many would resent having to do "volunteer" work just as they graduate and have visions of dollar signs dancing in their heads.

And, lastly, I highly doubt that it would be "volunteer" service in either program!

This is the way I see it too. Obama will be the great uniter of centrists and right wingers. It will be curtains for the democrats in 2010.

They don't have to go to that much trouble. They can subpoena JimRob and get every single byte that's ever been posted onto the FR server. They can do the same with the RNC, the NRA, the Second Amendment Foundation, and on and on. All they need is a lefty judge to issue it for whatever flimsy excuse, and they've got everything they need to find every one of us. The MSM will bury the story on page 33, or better yet, have lead stories about how all of the above entities were conspiring to (I'll let you fill in the blank with breathless hyperbole), the Feds imprison some high profile leaders of the above "radical organizations", and the "radical right" is effectively silenced.

"I'll take to the streets if they do that". Yes, you and about five hundred other brave souls, many of whom will be killed. The rest will be rounded up, martial law will be declared, and thus ends America as we know it.

I should be a Democrat for as well as I know how to play that scenario.

What check are you talking about? The $13.00 extra in your paycheck? That was not what the masses thought they were getting, no where close. He is so high on himself and his people are out of their minds.

I don’t underestimate Obama. What I am surprised at is that he has shown himself to be a complete idiot so soon after taking office. Look, you can only fake it so much. Talk is cheap. If he had run his campaign on his actions right now he would not have made it out of the primaries.
