Just curious, haven’t been able to buy 9mm ammo at Wal-Mart for several months here. I was told they got a shipment in last week, but sold out in 1 day.

I went to www.the-armory.com and there was a note on their .223 sales page that they were out of Wolf ammo (of which I don't buy). They were not only out but had sold 1 million rounds in 14 hours!

Think there are storm clouds on the horizon?

About 10 years ago I attended one of these town meetings with my US senator and the thing turned into a sob story session. To be fair, the people with the sob stories were not ne’er do well welfare queens; they were hard working people who through a combination of bad luck and health problems found themselves at the very limits of their finances. Yet they all looked to the federal government for some relief for their problems. Proof that the New Deal/Great Society plan of getting more Americans addicted to government is paying off handsomely for the liberals.

RE: SKS-- yeah, current prices are a shock if you're used to seeing an SKS in the $150-$200 range. I think it's partly that I haven't been looking for quite a while. My brother has a couple of 6.5mm Swedish Mausers-- beautiful actions and great ballistics (they were dirt cheap when he got them).

I should of picked-up some demo AR's last year when I had a chance, though I'm assuming the ones I didn't get are in good hands now :-)

An on whom? Who would they act against? The cops? The NG? Are they going to get some friends and go pay their Congresscritter a visit?

I've been saying that all necessary ingredients for civil unrest and organized violence...

Yep..however, the ingredients for other sinister outcomes are already very much in play. And those outcomes could also lead to blood in the streets. Here we're doing as much as we can as fast as we can to be prepared for some major unrest.

As a professor in the agriculture field at a major land grant institution, I have given alot of thought to the current situation our country is experiencing with respect to food production, transportation and distribution.

My intent with this post is not to alarm people but it wouldn’t take very much to significantly disrupt the production and distribution of food. In fact, it already has occurred to a minor extent. Case in point, the use of corn/feedstocks for alternative (ethanol) fuel production. What would happen if there is a significant drought in the corn belt?

So many people take our nation’s food production capacity for granted and have no appreciation or understanding for agriculture in general.

Starvation and hunger has been contributing ingredients in many insurrections/revolutions that have occurred throughout history.

I hope and pray that our country is able to ride this one out without any complications from the lack of food.

My two cents,

MFO

I do believe it's revealing when my crazy theories seep through into the news

I thought the same thing. It is one thing for me to be a nut for planning my own food sources, studying herbal medicines, and figuring out ways to keep my family safe in the event of a meltdown. It is another to see it discussed in the mainstream media.

Granted, Glen Beck is an entertainer and an alarmist

Perhaps, but the others on his show went even further than he did. And they were some serious heavy hitters.

I'll be ready.

And honestly, if this country breaks down, I think it will be a good thing. For us to get back to the business of living like human beings instead of racing to appease the tax man so that we can support all the ne'er do wells, we will all be better off. It is past time to cleanse the gene pool.

“Those that can, do. Those than can’t, teach. Those that can’t teach go into administration”.

That was a blanket statement.

I understand the situation in the schools. I’m sure your friend and friends we have that are teachers DO see what goes in in the classroom. We too sent our kids to Parochial school and no, it was not easy. We knew the money was better spent on tuition than other things so we chose to do without a few things so the children could benefit. I just know there are more than plenty of people who are educators and do it by choice...NOT because they cant’ do anything else.

We will have to worry about those outside the US if all hell does break loose.

If it happens everywhere, perhaps we’ll have less worry, but the chicoms and ruskies worry me.

I disagree with his experts. We will battle one another. Those in favor of government funding will pitch against those who don’t. There will be a civil war of sorts, with the “govies” encouraging the NG to fire at will.

Yes, but those types have few weapons, no training, and no conviction. They will be easily beaten down.

I'm not a professor, nor do I play one on TV, but I've been saying the same thing for a while using the production of ethanol as an example of the type of disruption possible.

But do you mind going into more detail on what you can foresee?

I'm sure David Koresh's colony...late of Waco Texas...thought the same thing.

Unfortunately, for a lot of us, we're quickly graying and not as mobile as we used to be.

Doesn't matter. Your brains and experience will lead the healthy bodies. You are perhaps more important than those who are physically agile.
