Glaciologist Jason Box has been testing a Moulin, a shaft that allows water to travel from the glacier's surface to its bottom, in a glacier on the Greenland ice cap to find out how fast it is melting.
Dr Box said: The Moulin is the epicentre of our concern because all the water is running down at this one point.
Its just bottomless, no light escapes.
Balanced on the edge of an ice sheet the team used a flow meter to measure the water speed.
He said: Theres no escape from a Moulin. Its just got danger written all over it. But the information is so important that we actually had to take that risk.
The team found that in just one day 42 million litres fresh water drained down this one Moulin. Dr Box thinks there are hundreds, possibly thousands more Moulins across the Greenland ice cap.
Greenland is losing enough water each year to cover Germany a metre deep.
Dr Box, from Ohio State University, thinks the way to combat melting glaciers is to cover them with blankets that will reflect the suns rays.

If these people were to come to Chicago, they would write a paper called, “MILLIONS OF RATS INVADE CHICAGO”.
Rats have always been in Chicago. Ice caps have always been melting (and refreezing).

Damn! We’re doomed!
I’m going to sell all the gold and ammo I’ve been accumulating and buy ice cubes instead.

LOL - Pretty soon they'll actually be trying something stupid and expensive like this. Probably some funding for a trial in the Stimulus.
Talk about unintended consequences.

I don’t know that we are doomed -but clearly the earth is warming because the seas are rising. We’ll know it has reversed if the seas start falling.
But there isn’t any data that a normal person who can understand that shows how much of the rise is human caused. Or what the other causes are and how much they contribute.

OMG. Think how many jobs will be created making blanklets for glaciers and covering them up.

I say we take off and nuke the entire sun from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

They should sent the glaciers to Michigan. We are experiencing global cooling.

Dr. Box is just looking for a job as a tucker-inner.
When I was a kid, it was great to have my parents come in to tuck me in before they went to bed. How comforting! I'm sure Gaia will feel much better.

Now let me get this straight in my mind. At one time was Greenland green with grass but then became covered with ice? Could Greenland be warming now, because of a natural climate change that the planet is experiencing?

"I dont know that we are doomed -but clearly the earth is warming because the seas are rising."
The next Ice Age is overdue and still on the horizon. During the Ice Ages, the ocean levels experience a large drop. Stay Tuned. An Ice Age is a BIG PROBLEM compared to a few degrees of "Global Warming".
