Loudmouths like Limbaugh not helping to unite nation (Saturday Barf Alert)
The (Sharon, Pa.) Herald ^ | March 7, 2009 | Lynn Saternow

Posted on 03/07/2009 1:22:55 PM PST by Ogie Oglethorpe

In case you missed the cartoon that appeared in Newsweek magazine and other places a month ago, it showed a person near the edge of a cliff talking to an elephant that represented the Republican Party.

The person asks, “If Rush Limbaugh told you to jump off this cliff would you do it?”

Next frame there’s the person standing alone, looking down and yelling over the cliff’s edge: “That was a rhetorical question!”

However, that cartoon really says a lot about the state of the Republican Party today. When you have a talk-show host who speaks for the conservatives in this country, you’re in a lot of trouble.

Here’s another rhetorical question: Has there ever been a bigger buffoon than Rush Limbaugh?

OK, if you’re a Limbaugh fan, you’re probably thinking “Lynn Saternow.” But besides the fact that I’m a lot better looking and much more humble, I would never have the audacity to challenge the President of the United States to a debate.

However, that’s what the loudmouth did recently. Maybe Limbaugh was back on drugs again when he said it, but why would a president want to even acknowledge someone who bills himself as a “harmless, lovable little fuzz ball.”

Lovable?

The best thing about Limbaugh is that he makes the conservatives of this country look very bad. After all, a short time ago he remarked about Obama: “I hope he fails.”

If Obama fails, this country fails. As much as I disliked George W. Bush, I never hoped he failed. Unfortunately, he did anyhow which is why we’re in a huge economic mess at this time.

Recently, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanual called Limbaugh the leader of the GOP. That was a great comment.

That really stirred Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, who considers himself the leader. In fact, he said some unflattering things about Limbaugh, who then reacted by slamming Steele.

So now Limbaugh not only has Democrats bashing him, he even has some of the Republicans split. Man, politics are great.

We are facing the worst problems we’ve had since the Great Depression. If ever there was a time for bipartisanship to help bring this country back, it’s now. I’m talking about Nancy Pelosi and her Democratic minions as well. This is no time for Democrats to be bragging that they won the election.

It doesn’t matter who wins if the country loses.

It’s even time for people like Rush Limbaugh to decide whether they want to put the best interests of their country first or if they just want to improve ratings with conservatives.

The whole nation is on the edge of the cliff and needs a lifeline. If everyone pulls together, we can climb back up and return to being the greatest country on Earth.

Or we can keep listening to buffoons and keep throwing up roadblocks to keep that from happening.

The Herald’s Lynn Saternow writes this column each Saturday for the Opinion page.

Hopefully Rush will get the RINOs out of the party since he doesn’t have to cover for W anymore. A

And on that note, I think the politicians who covered for Bush are just as bad as the democrats covering for Clinton et al.

“If everyone pulls together, we can climb back up and return to being the greatest country on Earth.”

I agree, let’s pull together to lower taxes, stop massive spending on pork, leave our health care system alone, forget about global warming, and not coddle our enemies. Perhaps that not what you had in mind, is it?

And that, little chickie-pooh, is why Rush is rich and famous and you're an unknown nothing.

Instead, I ended up with a variation of a famous Dan Akroyd line, "Lynn, you ignorant $#%&! You are confusing President Obama's inability to run this country with your inability to achieve orgasm."

Send it.

GOOD NEWS!!!! Rush’s ratings are WAY WAY up. Just exactly what we need to keep the hate-filled libs nervous. Good job, Rush. Keep up the good work - we stand united and support you 100%. I love how these parasites (libs and socialists) are freaking out over our RUSH! Lol!

Limbaugh: My Ratings are Way, Way Up”
By BYRON YORK
Chief Political Correspondent

One side effect of the Democratic campaign against Rush Limbaugh has been to increase — dramatically increase — the talk show host’s ratings. This morning I asked Rush if he had any numbers he could share on just what effect the increased visibility has had on his business. This is his response:

The latest numbers I have are for January, well before this kerfuffle began, and they are through the roof — six shares in NY, for example. There are daily ratings taken now in about the top 15 markets but I have not seen them yet. All I can tell you is that as of January, we booked 80 percent of all our 2008 revenue and we’ll be over 2008 by the end of this month.

Given those numbers, it’s clear that the most decisive economic stimulus produced by the Obama administration so far has been at the Excellence in Broadcasting Network.””))

The Left just wants Republicans to denounce Limbaugh so they can move further to the Left and destroy conservatism some more.

bumped - That is so right on.
