How your brain creates God? (Evos try to reduce God to natural by-product of how brain works)
CMI ^ | March 10, 2009 | Adrian Bates

The journal New Scientist has recently run an article called Born Believers: How your brain creates God (especially in hard financial times)1… Towards the latter end of the article is a disclaimer that ‘All the researchers involved stress that none of this says anything about the existence or otherwise of gods.’ However, the tenor of the article, including the title, militates strongly that the author’s preferred reality is that, yes folks, “your brain creates God.”

The article initially suggests that “God” is created in our brains as a result of “an evolutionary adaptation that makes people more likely to survive”. However it then points out that this theory is not accepted by many in the evolutionary community. Blithely over-riding this hiccup, it then launches into an alternate, conflicting theory that “religion emerges as a natural by-product of the way the human mind works”...

If man invented God, then why didn’t he invent God to not make moral demands upon us?

Well, let’s get God’s “side” here, for what He has to say about this... :-)

Romans 1:16-32

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.

20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,

23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,

25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.

27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,

30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;

32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

I think God has stated the case against those others, quite well...

So now God has been reduced to a brain fart??

If my brain created God, who created my brain??

If my brain created God, how come others believe in Him then??

So you're saying Jihad is all in the Muzzie’s head?? Can their brain create the 72 virgins too?? (I'll convert if that's true)

Will we change oaths? I swear to tell the truth so help me brain fart

Then we have the money thing: In brain fart we trust

Rev Wright: brain fart damn Amerika!!!

The pledge: One nation under brain fart

OMG becomes OMBF

Yeah....I'm just not feeling this sciencey vibe....then again maybe it's all in my head. Brain fart help me.

You joke, but Biblically speaking, she does know God and sings His praises. Want to know which verses say this?

The brain’s “God-shaped hole,” as it has been called, is a logical necessity of the pattern-recognising neurology which is the basis of our ability to reason.

An atheist can claim that belief in the God of Abraham and Moses is problematic based on theodicy, but he can’t argue that the belief in some sort of God underpinning the orderly rational universe of some sort is irrational, since the very operation of reason hinges on the orderly universe which, by evolutionary logic, created it.

In short, if belief in God has been naturally selected, it cannot be rejected as illogical by someone who believes in evolution.

It puts evos in the shallow end of the gene pool.

Ironic, ain't it? God can have quite the sense of humor at times.

Natural law, ie, reality,

favors, or tends towards, God’s will. The only reason it isn’t perfectly in line with God’s will is that some woman listened to a snake.

Romans 8:22
For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

OK, so let's assume this is true for the sake of argument. Conclusion? Science is undermining a capability that humans evolved for a useful reason. Science also undermines human reproduction by using birth control to detach sexual urges from having children, leaving much of the Western World with a birth rate well below replacement. Science has also allowed us to create weapons that can kill hundreds of thousands or even millions in one shot and to create diseases and poison gasses that can all kill in large numbers. Science also allows those who would die in a more competitive world to live and pass on their genes to others. The logical conclusion, from a purely evolutionary perspective? Science is an evolutionary dead end that thwarts natural selection, undermines the utility of traits that humans evolved over millions of years, and, if followed, will make humans extinct. And as an added bonus, it tells you that your life is fleeting and meaningless. So what's not to like about it?
