Rep. (Maxine) Waters' Troubling Ties ("troubling?")
Los Angeles Times ^ | March 14, 2009 | Tim Rutten

Posted on 03/14/2009 4:37:46 AM PDT by kellynla

(snip)

This week, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times reported that Waters used her access as a senior member of the latter committee to arrange two meetings between officials of the Treasury Department and a group of banks owned by African Americans

Ostensibly, the bankers wanted to talk because their institutions had been hard hit by the implosion of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. According to the New York Times, though, Kevin Cohee -- chief executive of OneUnited Bank -- took the opportunity to plead for a $50-million bailout of his institution.

"Here you had a tiny community bank that comes in and they are not proposing a broader policy -- they were asking for help for themselves," former Treasury aide Stephen Lineberry told the Times. "I don't remember that ever happening before."

Officials told both papers that they were even more taken aback when they discovered that Waters' husband, Sidney Williams -- a U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas under President Clinton -- was a former director of One- United Bank, that she herself had once owned as much as $500,000 worth of its stock and that her husband still holds two blocks of its securities, each valued somewhere between $250,000 and $500,000. Waters had arranged the meetings without disclosing any of these facts.

Whoops.

I don’t think mirrors are allowed in the presence Maxine Waters.

How do these scumbags look in the mirror...

Morals and ethics are relative to them. Laws are an inconvenience.

It’s not a mirror, it’s a racial prism.

and just like the 50 other senators and congressmen I read about who have been caught red handed in fraud , nothing will happen. There are reports , meetings , investigations and NOTHING happens to these criminals posing as statesmen. I’d say %98 of those in office don’t give a rats ass about the public and are there for PERSONAL gain and power. My home state NJ is the worse. We vote them back in the day they walk out of court or a mob meeting.

Nothing will happen to this ugly Klingon of color.

He/she/it represents the downtrodden minorities in her district inspite of herself, once owning as much as $500,000 worth of one bank’s stock and that her husband still holds two blocks of its securities, each valued somewhere between $250,000 and $500,000. Waters had arranged the meetings without disclosing any of these facts.

They look at each other every day and they are all in it up to their necks.

I wouldnt loan a pencil to a one of the politicians on the Hill.

This isnt just Maxine Waters and her husband, Pelosi and Her Husband or Harry Reid and his kids. The whole Hill is filled with members with family involved in their hi-jinks.

The ethics Committee should be a separate commission made up of honest citizens with no connection to those under investigation. The ethics committee as it now stands is a group of politicians all with their own hands in the pie trying to figure ways to quiet the voters and hide the guilt of those involved.

You know I think I’ll run for congress as a Democrat... exemption from prosecution or responsibility of any kind, an endless supply of ready cash... and all I have to do is divest myself of any shred of conscience or shame.

“The ethics Committee should be a separate commission made up of honest citizens with no connection to those under investigation.”

The best idea I have ever heard.

I copied this and sent it to everyone I know. People are busy working hard and have no idea what is really going on. Most do not believe they would cheat us right to our face.

You know this is more than Waters making money. I'm sure there are many politicians making money (besides Soros and 3/4 of Hollywood) They are trying to gain MORE power by having all the money. (Probably so they can pay for private doctors while the rest us of have to use government doctors. She does not want to be on any waiting list to allow her to live longer, unlike us, who will have to sit on a waiting list.)

I'm waiting for the person who stands up and exposes the democrats with no fear. That person will lead this us. Right now, its as if everyone is afraid of them.

If this had been a Republican with European ancestry, it would be the “culture of corruption” and there would be cries to resign.

Good, as the world doesn't revolve around you, and readers of your thread may want to also read the preceding 20 or so posts.
