WASHINGTON The Obama administration is increasingly concerned about a populist backlash against banks and Wall Street, worried that anger at financial institutions could also end up being directed at Congress and the White House and could complicate President Obamas agenda.
The administrations sharp rebuke of the American International Group on Sunday for handing out $165 million in executive bonuses Lawrence H. Summers, director of the presidents National Economic Council, described it as outrageous on This Week on ABC marks the latest effort by the White House to distance itself from abuses that could feed potentially disruptive public anger.

ABC could change the name of their show to “This Wreak” when they interview administration officials.
That's ALL they worry about.
Add in the Russians talking of moving strategic bombers to either Cuba and VZ and this is quickly turning into Jimmuh Carter Re Deux..
Whoever posted “The Jimmy Carter Presidency - Now Available in Black” was spot on!

SPECIAL "CLOSED SESSION" OF U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES DISCUSSED A LOT MORE THAN THE PENDING SECURITY SURVEILLANCE PROVISIONS!
This was only the fourth time in 176 years that Congress has closed its doors to the public. What was it that they were discussing that they do NOT want us to know about?
Word has begun leaking from last nights special, closed-door session of the United States House of Representatives.
Not only did members discuss new surveillance provisions as was the publicly stated reason for the closed door session, they also discussed:
1. the imminent collapse of the U.S. economy to occur by September 2008,
2. the imminent collapse of US federal government finances by February 2009,
3. the possibility of Civil War inside the USA as a result of the collapse,
4. advance round-ups of "insurgent U.S. citizens" likely to move against the government,
5. the detention of those rounded-up at "REX 84" camps constructed throughout the USA,
6. the possibility of retaliation against members of Congress for the collapses,
7. the location of "safe facilities" for members of Congress and their families to reside during expected massive civil unrest,
8. the necessary and unavoidable merger of the United States with Canada (for its natural resources) and with Mexico (for its cheap labor pool),
9. the issuance of a new currency - THE AMERO - for all three nations as the proposed solution to the coming economic armageddon.
Hmmmm. I presume this is a further push for socialized medicine and carbon credits?
“potentially disruptive public anger”
Agreed except for the potentially part.
Maybe General Petraeus will come in and step on Bambi’s neck. BTW the way, SS, I was not suggesting I would support such behavior.
What we NEED is a populist backlash, and from the right. I hope they get one.
I'm generally not a populist kind of guy, but sometimes it's necessary.
I can’t help but wonder what the Founders would say (no, **DO**) in response should any of these points come to pass.
“backlash against banks and Wall Street”-No it’s not going to come against the banks (your average hometown) nor wall-street: The American people aren’t stupid and they know who’s responsible it is the Federal Government: The Obama Adminstration, and Congress.
The White House is worried that the backlash “could”, what the hell, not “could” WH Idiots, “is” effecting the White House for good reason —— Zero is allowing it to happen.
Queen Nan and Stupid King Harry are ruling the Country!
SHEESH!!
So remind me again.
Is rebuke after harsh words or sternly worded letter to the editor?
Even better: “This Reek”
Jimmuh’s back, and this time he’s black.
Robroy deserves a metal for getting it right year ago. He was flames on that thread. See the names of the flamers it will surprise everyone.
