Palin's legal debts pile up
Anchorage Daily News ^ | March 20, 2009 | LISA DEMER

Posted on 03/21/2009 11:48:57 AM PDT by fkabuckeyesrule

Legal bills have mounted fighting complaints that she called partisan, false and frivolous, starting with "the politically motivated Troopergate probe," Palin said in a written response to questions.

"I must defend against these baseless ethics accusations out of my own pocket as the use of public monies to do so could itself violate state law," Palin wrote.

"On August 29, it seems the political landscape changed in Alaska. Now, it seems in order to do this job as Governor, with the political blood sport some are playing today, only the independently wealthy or those willing to spend their income on legal fees to defend their official actions in office ... can serve," Palin said

Out of the 10 complaints, Palin said six have been dismissed, one had "concluded," and three are pending.

Zane Henning, a North Slope worker, filed a complaint in November after the election, accusing Palin of partisan "post-election damage control" for talking to reporters about the campaign in her state office. He said he wanted to stop that sort of behavior, and it seems to have worked, but he couldn't talk about the complaint further while it was pending.

Palin said she didn't think it would be fair to "sacrifice public monies to defend against something that was so politically charged."

"Obviously we cannot afford to personally pay these bills -- and really no future governor should feel the sense of financial vulnerability at the hands of those with a political vendetta bent on personal destruction," Palin wrote. "Some have suggested a legal fund to pay these bills. We'll have to pursue that."

The Palin’s should get a legal defense fund setup to handle these scurrilous accusations. In doing so, media outlets like Fox News will be report on the issue and more folks will hear about it. Don’t let the liberal establishment control every news cycle and continue to hold the upper-hand. Respond!

I read this on Conservatives4palin.com

“Palin said she knew the case had turned political when CNN reported that the Obama campaign had spoken with the troopers’ union about Monegan.”

Nuff said. It’s Obama and his “community organizers” who are doing all of this. If they can do this to her, they can do this to all of us. This smells of Communism, and I never thought America would become Cuba. Give me an address to send Sarah a personal check to fight this crap and I will send it. Enough is enough, Sarah has gone through more hell being in politics then I have seen in my entire life, and don’t think for a second that “Special Olympics” Gaffe or whatever you call it wasn’t targeted at Sarah. Obama is doing everything in his power every second of everyday to destroy this woman

Why doesn’t McCain use his vast wealth to pay her legal bills?

For those who remember when Reagan ran for President, was it this bad with him too..

1980 was my first election that I voted in. Since Jimmy Carter had no real accomplishments to point to they had to go negative on Reagan. They did the typical race stuff and said Reagan woulf start World War 3 and of course they made a big deal of the “dangerous” Moral Majority (i.e., christian right).

I really wonder, if Reagan had run for President now, with the way the media is, and with the Internet and all, would he have stood a chance

You have never seen rachael maddow before? Androgyny is her name, yet the lefties think she's cute.

(that is actually Balki from "Perfect Strangers" -- but here is a side by side -- the one on the right is really "her"):

Reagan had it bad - as a Democrat at the time, I believed he was a patriotic American and even I saw how bad it was. He was called: reckless, dunce, senile, warmonger, relied on astrology and on and on.

The difference was there was only a handful of TV networks and media outlets. Now, with the Internet, cable, talk radio and thousands of liberal nutcases digging through trash cans its much worse.

I also believe there was some respect, even among most liberals, for candidates that is completely vanished now. BDS and now PMS has gone way beyond the normal political disagreements into a concerted effort to destroy people politically AND personally.

American politics, thanks primarily to the left, is a bloodsport. That is why the next few elections need to be won in landslide fashion, to check the growing madness of the left.

Keep in mind that your tax dollars fund most of these ACORN and government/campaign workers sifting through trash cans and databases. That has to be halted when we have real leadership in DC.

I agree that Palin should step down after one term. If she runs for re-election the media will bring her down and both parties are gunning for her too.

If her approval ratings in the 60's continue, she can well afford to tell the MSM to shove it.
