President Barack Obama said he believes the global financial system remains at risk of implosion with the failure of Citigroup or AIG, touching off “an even more destructive recession and potentially depression.”
His remarks came in a “60 Minutes” interview in which he was pressed by an incredulous Steve Kroft for laughing and chuckling several times while discussing the perilous state of the world’s economy.
“You're sitting here. And you're— you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, "I mean, he's sitting there just making jokes about money—” How do you deal with— I mean: explain. . .” Kroft asks at one point.
“Are you punch drunk?” Kroft says.
“No, no. There's gotta be a little gallows humor to get you through the day,” Obama says, with a laugh.

I held my nose and voted McCain. I'm still not convinced that he wasn't the better candidate. However, he may not have been the *right* candidate for the next 2-4 years - if that makes any sense.
For instance, with the bailout bill, Congress would have started out at a trillion dollars, and McCain would have held out to sign it until they reduced the bill down to "only" 600 billion. And FReepers everywhere would rejoice - "Be Glad there's a conservative in the White House! Think how bad it MIGHT have been!" And so forth. The country would still be in dire straits, and the Dems would still have a Republican Candidate to put a face to the problems.
At least now, Republicans are a firewall, albeit an ineffective one. It's easy to take the high road, when the bar is set so low.

I think that’s the best analysis. I’d seen something like this on TV (maybe Law and Order episode?) a few years ago. The criminal behaved the way Obama does — especially inappropriate laughter, and when I saw your post, I’m pretty sure that was his diagnosis.

Just because McCain hasnt thought of it yet doesnt mean he wouldnt do it. Selling out is not based on original thought. Think of the country USA economy being ‘wood/tree’ and Obama is the ‘woodpecker’ which is pretty scary, McCain is the ‘termite’ posing as plant food, sold as plant food by you. At least I can see the woodpecker coming. Right now the tree is already very sick.

I'd try to explain the idiocy of accusing those of us that voted for McCain over obama...but, it would zoom right over your head. It does however require one loving country more than ideology... never mind, as I said before, "You just don't have the capacity to grasp it." Sad.
I have more than a clue, I have your declaration...you prefer your ideology over the welfare of the nation.
