Now there was a group that flamed out too quickly. The Newbeats, with lead singer Dean Mathis, was one of the more promising acts to come out of Roy Acuff’s shop. After “Bread and Butter”, they had only one more hit the next year (1965), “Run Baby Run” before they disappeared.
