EDITORIAL: 'We want them registered'--Democrats are going after guns
The Washington Times ^ | April 13, 2009 | Editorial

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, announced last week that she wants to register guns. Her next move will be to try to confiscate them.

The speaker picked a television show with a viewership of 4.6 million to float the Democrats' coming gun-control push. Questioned on ABC's "Good Morning America" about the prospect of new gun-control laws now that "it's a Democratic president, a Democratic House," she responded, "We don't want to take their guns away. We want them registered."

Politicians and bureaucrats routinely claim that registration helps solve crimes. If a registered gun is used in a crime and left at the crime scene, registration supposedly lets the police trace the gun back to the criminal. Though this turn of events might work on fictional TV crime shows, it virtually never occurs in real life. Criminals' guns are rarely left at crime scenes. When guns are left behind, it usually is because a crook has been seriously injured or killed and the police are poised to catch him anyway.

The few guns left at crime scenes rarely - if ever - are registered to the perpetrator. If they are registered at all, it is to someone else, whose piece was stolen. Despite what Mrs. Pelosi might think, those who use guns to commit major crimes such as robbing and killing are unlikely to respect her request to file paperwork so the government can catalog the tools of their trade.

Numerous examples disprove gun-control propaganda. Hawaii has had licensing and registration of guns for about 50 years.

You have to fill out a 4473 form and have a background check anytime a firearm passes through a dealer, even AT A GUN SHOW. This includes shipping a gun to somewhere you are hunting (i.e. an Alaskan hunting trip), purchasing a firearm from out of state or ordering a firearm from an Internet dealer.

The only time you do not do a background check is when no dealer is involved; when one non-dealer sells to another non-dealer. This CAN happen when people meet at a gun show. Even then there are few people that would sell to someone covered in prison or gang “tats” or not ask for ID or a receipt from someone they thought questionable...

“At a gun show, I don’t think you have to give your information.”

If you buy from a FFL dealer you have to fill out the paperwork, if you buy from an individual that are selling their personal guns you don’t.

forwarded it but this needs to be made into an AD for the TV as that reading is frightening

remember foreign problems are nothing but an interference to his domestic policy
he has funded his army ACORN with our money

even the tea parties now are being demonstrated against by these paid loonies

remember he said he wanted a millions civilian security force to match that of the military

why has not on person asked this and what he meant by it?

with guns out of the way except for criminals the we are powerless

do not forget that some gun owners actually voted for this buffoon, they are the ones who should have had their guns taken away as they seem unable to see logic what so ever

Hawaii has had licensing and registration of guns for about 50 years.

Has this Had ANY effect on Crime??????????

[We ALL know the answer to this question – IF it did have an effect on crime, the Lying Statist Media would repeat it every 5 seconds]

Therefore the licensing and registration of Our CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS in the rest of the country would fail to have any effect on crime and in fact be a step on the road to CONFISCATION!!

They went after the ATF forms 4473, which is the record of sale.
As required to be kept by the dealer, they are a de-facto registration.
And, if the dealer goes out of business, the ATF gets their hands on them permanantly.

Bump.

Yes most firearms are registered already in a federal database. BUT The gun grabbers want exclusive rights to our firearms. They will want us to pay license fees. Demand annual renewal of license fees. Register ammo and only allow limited ammo purchases for registered firearms.
Stop interstate transportation. Stop transfer between family and friends without paying fees and federal firearms background checks.

These are draconian measures punishing legal firearms owners with license fees and federal interferance.

Will these measures have an effect on crime? Yes. Because many firearms owners will become criminals for not bowing to Odooma’s marxism. Will these measures reduce violent crimes? NO.

All of us right wing extremists are already criminals in the eyes of the leftist extremists. But the real criminals are the leftwing extremists because they ignore the Constitutional law of America.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, announced last week that she wants to register guns. Her next move will be to try to confiscate them.

Saw this coming a long time ago. Apparently very few others did, based on their do-nothing lack of any political action whatsoever.

On Craigslist you can rent a sex partner but you cannot purchase firearms. Heck, some of the advertisers post photographs of themselves... This is the reason I do not utilize Craigslist.

Yea, Canada only wanted to know where guns were located, and then the same with Australia.

Next up, bring them on in and "we'll keep them for you" in a safe place so you can "borrow them" for hunting purposes.

Then, you don't really need them for hunting, here's a can of spam to eat...
