Great anger, but high spirits, at the West Palm Beach Tea Party
Original Reporting ^ | 04/15/02009 | David H Dennis

Posted on 04/15/2009 9:02:26 PM PDT by daviddennis

Massive crowds filled the main government plaza in West Palm Beach, and even rain failed to dampen the protesters' enthusiasm to get the word out about their firm opposition to President Obama and his destructive policies. People are mad, furious, but still capable of having fun and staying positive despite our trying times.

There was no good news for President Obama. While the event was technically non-partisian, I saw little evidence of Democrats in the audience. While many quite reasonably said the two parties shared the blame for our current mess, agreement was unanimous that President Obama was seriously messing up the situation.

After an age, I’m back with a new location and new original reporting! If you feel any of the old gang over in LA would enjoy this report, please ping them.

Video will be added sometime tomorrow - I have a new high definition video camera which is very picky about its formats and such.

Way to go West Palm Beach!

The TEA parties are a solid start. But we, the people, have to follow up by having “Push Back Until” events later this year, early next year, and for as long as we have to: http://pushbackuntil.com.

It will not be easy, but how interested are we in saving our country from an irresponsible Congress? If we, the people, do nothing, our country is finished.

“Be in D.C. to Push Back Until!”

My sister was at the Dixon, ILL tea party...she said they had an open mic ...

One man got up and said (something to the effect...) "Homeland Security? Take THIS! I'm a liberal and I am FED UP with you!!!!"

He probably feels he has little to gain by acknowledging them, since they indicate a sizable percentage of the population is upset at his policies. I don’t expect anything from him; he can look presidential and thus above the fray.

The overall anti-politician slant of the tea parties is covered here:

http://voices.kansascity.com/node/4274

I’m not sure if I agree the events are truly non-partisian. The West Palm event had both Republicans and conservative Democrats as speakers, but it was clear the crowd was 99% Republican. “You should have voted Republican” and “I voted for Sarah Palin” were common sentiments. (Interestingly enough, McCain’s name was rarely mentioned).

Pajamas Media says the Tea Parties have bad news for both parties:

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/dc-tea-party-republicans-should-not-be-rejoicing-quite-yet/

But really, since the only realistic opposition to President Obama is through the Republican party, it strikes me that it’s fabulous news for Republicans and terrible news for Democrats. The Republican ideology is certainly highly compatible with what was said at the Tea Parties.

Now all we need is candidates that express that ideology instead of the traditional dealmaking that’s destroyed the credibility of our government, on both sides.

(I forgot to mention that my reporting includes 180 photos of the Tea Party - if you like creative signs and the like, it’s a real feast for the eyes!)

Indeed, just look at how the Fed is treating both the Constitution AND the Bill of Rights.

Considering that it was Florida that, for all intents, gave McCain’s campaign the win.
Had he lost Florida, the election would have turned out differently.
Not saying that the GOP would have prevailed, but it would have had a much different dynamic to it and Hussein may well have lost.

agreed we need another tea party maybe over the weekend as I know many others could not take the time off, some fitted in their lunch hour, others took the afternoon off but more importantly we need to carry this on as we have the momentum

I don’t think Obama is worried. Conservatives are way to docile when it comes to protests. The left had been practicing for 40 years and pretty much mastered the art of being annoying.

Actually they should be extremely worried. The right never protests, ever. They seethe silently and then vote to change things.

When things get bad enough for the right to take to the streets even in their well behaved protest then thing are really heating up and a huge movement is forming. If dems keep up the way they are going, the direction of the right's anger will be the huge question.

The DHS move was very stupid at this time because now it is not just the tax burden that has been thrown in Americas faces it now is going to become a question of freedom and nobody in the older generations can miss the dangers of a government taking these type of actions, too reminiscent of dictators and communist around the world.

They are giving reasons for the people or states to stand up and begin a fight against the government. You need to be power hungry or brain dead to be a dem.
