Earth Day is Lenin's birthday
Ether Zone ^ | April 1, 2000 | Alan Caruba

In 1955, then Soviet Premier, Nikita Krushchev ordered April 22nd be designated a day to celebrate Communism. In 1970, it was chosen to be Earth Day by Gaylord Nelson, one of the founders of the event. Those founders had 365 days from which to choose. They chose Lenin's birthday.

When Communism was imposed on Russia in 1917, the first thing it did was to outlaw the ownership of private property. Under Communism, the State owns all property and all natural resources. In recent years in the United States, the Clinton-Gore Administration has declared millions of acres of mineral and oil-rich areas to be national monuments. The U.S.government already owns more than forty percent of the nation's landmass. Individual States own property as well, bringing the total closer to fifty percent.

This has been around for a while but it doesn't hurt to be reminded of the ultimate goal of this movement.

I suspect the date of Earth Day, so called, has more to do with the fact that it’s generally a pleasant day in early spring when people are happy to get outside for a day.

It’s almost impossible to pick a date that doesn’t collide with some notorious person’s birthday.

LOL Beware the “Green Acres” movement! Even has the word “Green” in the name. Obviously Ahhhnold is the Hootervillian Candidate!

Seriously though, the Communist influence in the “Green Movement” is very thinly diguised.

http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Actor_Eddie_Albert_Dies_at_Age_99

“Mr. Albert was also a vigorous environmental and social activist, making many trips on behalf of UNICEF and helping found the Plaza de la Raza foundation in Los Angeles to assist poor Hispanic youth. He played a significant role in urging the US to ban DDT, which it did in 1972, and was instrumental in starting Earth Day.”

By the way, can you guess what film & TV actor Eddie Albert has to do with Earth Day? Ben over at Environmental Graffiti notes that, due to the actor’s extraordinary work with environmental causes & groups, when International Earth Day was being organized in the early 70s, it was decided that the holiday must be held on April 22nd — Eddie Albert’s birthday. Puts a whole new spin on Green Acres, doesn’t it?

He’s not a hero when it comes to DDT.

I am not disparaging his service to this country. However, he was wrong about DDT and people in Mozambique are suffering today because of actions by him and Rachel Carson.

--as always , I will celebrate Earth Day by killing an unnecessary tree-(I'm well situated to do this as I am on the family farm for a few weeks in south west Wisconsin which has some former pastureland overrun with excess small trees).

Agree. It seems unlikely that Gaylord Nelson picked that day because of the link with Lenin. Nelson was a combat veteran in WWII, Gov. of Wisconsin and a US Senator.

The U.S.government already owns more than forty percent of the nation’s landmass.eminent domain laws should help with that.

It is not coincidental that it falls on Lenin’s birthday.
