I wonder if the banks run the republican party, and if democrats run the banks
Progressives both, two heads of the same big government coin.
BUMP for later reading...
Marshall Law ?
OK, I am a horrible proofreader...I admit it...that should be Martial Law...mea culpa.
I think the banks run both parties...myself.
Substance is more important and you do well in that arena.
Thank you, you are too kind. This means something to me having read many of your substantive posts.
..but Bank of America was not calling the shots. GWB believed to be a success, he had to do big things and show leadership and believed in the power of government. How could he not?
Iraq invasion-reconstruction rebuilding country. And what is bad is he sold so called conservatives on those ideas too. Hannity, Levin others and all their conservative followers on the radio every day telling us that Iraq invasion/reconstruction was critical to save america (they never said the whole thing was a bad decision from the start, even if we were stuck there.) . They all believe in big government run by republicans to one degree or another. The rest of the country then liked democrats spin on it : "Big government for YOU instead of them" . It was so predictable. Conservatives reaction ? "marxists"
The way I look at it is no one would have said a word if he Built a very expensive fortified 30 foot high wall down the southern border and pulled military from say So Korea to man the thing then built the military up a level, but This!!
Sitting there like a doofus while the communists looted the place and smiling as gasoline hit $5.00 with his oil background he knew better!! ONE EO and the drilling would have started.
The point is the High fuel price started the backwards tumble while ole GW sat there more concerned about purple thumbs than American Citizens !!
The problem is, our ruling class no longer pays attention to us or even cares what we think. They are too busy looting to notice.
I am beginning to believe what they need is a good dose of fear. Pleading and logic no longer do the job.
Bump
No one made Ken Lewis obey corrupt demands from government officials. He wrecked his corporation and betrayed his stock holders and the free market so he could go along with the crowd and not be shunned or smeared.
All of us are faced with the threats of bullies now and then. Some of us have the courage and honor to stand up for our responsibilities and truth. That would not be Mr. Lewis. That would be Ms. California.
If you do some research in and out of the DBM, you might find that Mr. Lewis was as up front as he could be from the start. Check his "60 Minutes" interview from last year regarding the first batch of TARP money. Also, he is sticking his neck out as we speak by having "spilled the beans" to Andrew Cuomo recently on Paulsen and Bernanke's comments when he tried to get out of the Merrill-Lynch deal in December.
fair enough. I must confess, I voted for him too, twice. The first time I was hopeful he was the real deal. The 2nd time I knew he blew but I couldn’t bear the thought of Kerry being CIC while we had troops in Iraq.
lol!
the bushes 41 and 43 are not conservatives.
with some prodding, we got good scotus appointments.
Not all the banks were calling the shots...I would actually say that Goldman is playing too big a role. I think the banks blackmailed the government into helping out. Help us or we will crash the economy. Also, how do we know that Lewis is being truthful?
Thanks!
RE :” I think the banks blackmailed the government into helping out. Help us or we will crash the economy. “
I agree some banks did, plus they got to take down the competitors that were doing OK. We know that our elected and MSM blackmailed us in that way.
