I liked McCain, mainly because of his demonstrated loyalty to the military (something foremost for me).

Short memories abound in the world of politics.

I am guessing you don't remember how badly he treated families of MIA's in Vietnam?

I certainly do, and think Sen. McCarran has shown himself to be a petty and nasty man .... any courage he has exhibited seems to be long ago in a distant land and certainly hasn’t been shown in his moral convictions.

He basically told them the truth: "There are no POWs still held in Vietnam and, if there were any POWs still in Vietnam, they want to be there!" (Ted Sampley--who, incidentally also claimed that GHW Bush bailed on his Avenger crew in WWII leaving them to perish while he was saved, was mostly behind the effort to discredit McCain and that belief, thereby putting these families through more pain in fostering an illusion that their lovedones could still be alive.
