Dr. Rand Paul Ready To Enter Primary For Bunning's Seat
WBKO ^ | May 1, 2009

Rand Paul, son of former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, says he is poised to enter the race for U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning's seat.

Paul, who has been stumping across Kentucky, told The Associated Press that "every bone in my body says there is going to be a race." But the Bowling Green physician said he won't run unless Bunning opts out.

Paul is a fan of Bunning's conservative fiscal philosophy and said he simply wants to be ready to jump into the race quickly if the 77-year-old senator decides to retire instead of seeking re-election next year.

Bunning has said repeatedly that he intends to run for a third term.

no, I doubt it’s a mistake these things were quietly happening in 2008 as well, though on a much smaller scale (I think mostly connected with the Ron Paul movement)..wasn’t involved in them then, but since I have seen some videos on Rand Paul and am really sold on him, I live in Indiana, if he runs, I may have to take a trip down to the Blue Grass state and help out..!

If Kentucky elects Rand to the U.S. Senate, it will truly be a shot heard round the world. He will pull no punches with the communist revolution that is taking over our country. Many people who will never listen to any other Republican will listen to a Paul.

If he is as comitted to abolishing abortion as his father, I will support him vigorously.

Good. We need more real conservatives and fewer party tools. Not to disparage Bunning necessarily, but Paul looks like a much better choice than the typical jagoff candidate suggested by the RNC.

Maybe someone of similar inclination will run for a FL Senate seat. We have two that we aren’t really using right now...

Alan Keyes is the reason FR was catapulted into the national spotlight in 98, in case you’ve forgotten.

What’s he a doctor of? Unless he’s an MD, I don’t see much point in calling him Dr.

Like his father, he's an MD.

Thanks for the ping. I would rather keep Bunning. He’s dependable, he’s spot on regarding all the bailout mania; saw the economic crisis coming long before anyone and was ridiculed for it. I didn’t care much for Ron Paul, but admittedly know little of Rand Paul. I’ll listen and consider him, but I’m not pleased that Bunning is being treated the way he has been in the least (and that isn’t Paul’s fault; that’s all on Mitch!)

Here's Bunning's record.

I don't have time today to go through it, but if I lived in Kentucky I sure would in order to decide if this guy is worth reelecting -- or whether there is a better choice.

If you prefer ignorance, feel free.

After the shameful career of paleoPaulie, the two-faced Galveston treason weasel and phony extraordinaire, we don't need his virus spreading to other states through his offspring. Kentucky can do quite nicely, thank you, without Dr. Rand Paul seeking Republican nominations.

What's with his first name, btw, is he named for Ayn Rand, serial adulterer, atheist and abortion advocate? And you think I am a nut????

Other than his dishonest posing for holy pictures, where do you get the idea that Ron (paleo)Paul is prepared to actually DO anything to abolish abortion. He hides out behind his notions of federalism to excuse the federales of the blame for the next 50 million who will be slaughtered under the rubric of Roe vs. Wade. A SCOTUS decision will not be overturned by state legislation. 10th Amendment or no 10th Amendment, babies will continue to be slaughtered until there is federal action, Ron Paul, Rand Paul and other examples of libertoonian fantasyland notwithstanding.

The Ron Pauls will no more defend the babies than they will defend our country or abolish shrimpin' earmarks for Galveston-Houston.

BTW, why would Rand Paul be any more effective against our nation's domestic enemies than he would against its foreign enemies?

Most people who ARE Republicans would not be caught dead voting for any of the Pauls. (See last year's POTUS primaries and their massive rejection of Papa Loon).

I’m not jumping in until I knownmore about his position on those key issues we have with his dad and if he is smart enough to distance himself from nuts like Alex Jones, Lewellan Rockwell, Don Black, Jamie Kelso, and Ron’s other puppet masters. Randolph may be different.
