Sick of that into theme song on Hannity (vanity)

Posted on 05/05/2009 12:12:00 PM PDT by Scythian

I'm not sure about you guys and I'll get reamed for this vanity but I'm so sick of that "Independence Day" themesong that Hannity uses, at this point it just makes me turn his show off.

And I don't get it "Roll the stone away, let the guilty pay, it's independence day" ???? What does that mean exactly? When the stone was rolled away, the guilty most certainly didn't pay, an innocent Christ paid for the guilty, I just don't like that song at all.

Okay, a petty vanity, but sickened by this intro song to the point of being unable to listen ...

Artist : Martina Mcbride
Song : Independence Day

Well she seemed alright by dawn’s early light
Though she looked a lil worried and weak
She tried to pretend he wasn’t drinking again
But Daddy left the proof on her cheek
And I was only eight years old that summer
And I always seemed to be in the way
So I took myself down to the fair in town
On Independence Day...

Well, word gets around in a small, small town
They said he was a dangerous man
But Momma was proud, and she stood her ground
She knew she was on the losin’ end
Some folks whispered, some folks talked
But everybody looked the other way
And when time ran out there was no one about
On Independence Day...

Let freedom ring
Let the white dove sing
Let the whole world know that today is the day of a reckoning
Let the weak be strong
Let the right be wrong
Roll the stone away
Let the guilty pay
It’s Independence Day

Well, she lit up the sky that Fourth of July
By the time that the firemen come
They just put out the flames and took down some names
and sent me to the county home
Now I ain’t sayin’ it’s right, or it’s wrong
But maybe it’s the only way
Talk about your revolution
It’s Independence Day...

Let freedom ring
Let the white dove sing
Let the whole world know that today is the day of a reckoning
Let the weak be strong
Let the right be wrong
Roll the stone away
let the guilty pay
It’s Independence Day

Roll the stone away...

It’s Independence Day...

I can’t take the “Liberal interpretation” segment, or whatever it’s called. We just simply can not handle his show anymore.

The best I can determine from the lyrics, it is about an abusive husband. Somehow the wife solves the problem with violence. Hannity merely incorporated some of the lyrics into something not intended by the song.

While we’re at it saying to his callers “your a great American” whom he knows nothing about is dumb, reminds of of Dan Rathers “Courage” nonsense, okay, it’s true, I don’t like Hannity, he reminds of someone who is close minded, a politcal hack unable to consider he might ever be wrong, I know he’s a concservative but he sounds like a paid propagandists, I don’t like him, but his themesong is the end of it for me, stupid, dumb, and sick of it ...

yeah Sean, drop the song, it's old and after a while it does get annoying. Also noticed he does this “liberal translation” bit on his show that is some what lame, just tell the story and tell the truth.
I know other FReepers and I have used the Translation:....
post in on threads here when saying what they really mean when posting to a RAT statement...hmmmmmm wondering

To: who knows what evil?

Hannity is so clueless. Not a good representative of the Conservative Movement.

Has anyone here ever even listen to the whole Martina McBride song? Does anyone posting here even know what the song was about? It doesn’t sound like it.

I find the intro music useful: “Warning! Radio that sucks is coming up!”

You may be tired of the song but what about the gal who sings it:

I agree and how about “Let the right be wrong”

Sean supported Rudy, he’s a closet lib.

Hannity has jumped the shark.

Even further, it’s about a woman burning herself and her abusive husband up, as seen through the eyes of their daughter.

song reminds me of my psychotic ex-wife who gleefully sung the lyrics as she packed her things and was preparing to walk out on me. She called about six months later in the middle of the night crying and saying she wanted to come home. She also admitted some “friends” talked her into leaving a 10 year marriage. Didn’t take her back.

It is about a girl who burns down her family house during the July 4th fireworks, or something...Daddy raped her....

Okay, she’s gorgeous, I would listen to her drone on endlessly ... Maybe she can replace Hannity ...

“I hate the whole show.”

I am a right wing fanatic who can’t stand Hannity. He repeats himself like a broken record. Same talking points over and over...and over...and over....

Oh, you’re all talking about his radio show? Oops, nevermind then...I’ve never listened to it.

Not petty at all. I like Hannity but that howling is mental abuse.

“song reminds me of my psychotic ex-wife who gleefully sung the lyrics as she packed her things and was preparing to walk out on me”

Man, you are one lucky guy. Congrats!

Any tips to get the same result?
