Are Democrats Turning Against Obama?
Human Events ^ | 5-8-09 | Gary Bauer

Given the media’s fawning coverage of President Obama’s first 100 days and the rock star image he projects to adoring crowds at his campaign pep rallies, er, “listening tour” events, you’d think conservatives stood alone in opposition to Obama’s agenda.

But you’d be wrong. The GOP has been labeled the party of “no,” but increasingly there are signs of dissent from within the president’s own party. Obama has a moderate demeanor. He’s cool, calm and collected, as we are constantly reminded. But his agenda is ambitiously liberal. This is just fine for the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, but it’s provoking conspicuous pushback from Democrats who represent conservative and moderate districts and states.

Last week, the Democratic-controlled Senate defeated an Obama-backed bill that would have allowed bankruptcy judges to rewrite the terms of mortgage contracts. Labeled the “cram-down” bill, the legislation was benefit homeowners who got in over their heads at the expense of homeowners who signed mortgages they could afford. If passed, the new law would have raised mortgage borrowing costs. A dozen Democrats voted against the bill, which was voted down 45-51.

Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell said, “The vote today was a bipartisan rejection of an interest rate hike, which is exactly the wrong solution for jobs, homeowners and the economy.” Democrat Ben Nelson, who voted against the bill, said, “[It] sounds real good, but I don’t think anyone in the mortgage industry can determine what they have if a judge comes and changes things.”

The Democratic Party is also mired in infighting over “cap and trade” legislation.

‘Its the economy, stupid!’ is at play, and as such Democrats understand they have to distance themselves from the failing Obamanomics before the 2010 mid term election cycle begins next year.

Its now certain the 2010 cycle will feature a double digit unemployment rate folks. There is no stopping it now.

Well, they do not need him anymore...

So I would not be surprised to see them dump him.

"Obama has a moderate demeanor. He’s cool, calm and collected, as we are constantly reminded."

"PEOPLE were satisfied," Barack Obama writes in his first memoir, "Dreams From My Father," "so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves."

Seems to me Obama and friends have published their blueprint and are trying to work it with precision.

The only thing we may be able to take solace in will be the rebellious democrats will be the first against the wall when Obama strikes back at them.

Still, nothing to celebrate as we will be next in line.

Too late. U6, according to the bureau of labor and statistics, is at 15.8%.

I think they do not need him any less. The Democrats in Congress are about as popular swine flu.

It’s amazing how much they have stuck together so far. In any case Obama will promote ANYTHING democrat congress sends to him, like Bush did from 2001-2006 with R congress.

Bingo. This guy has realized that there are no consequences. It’s Clintonieze 2.0. You will not be held accountable, as long as you apologize. You will not be held accountable for any lies, as long as it is in the name of the Children. Etc. I think they also realized how many people are sheeple who do nothing with their lives but watch MTV and eat McDonalds. They just want a “cool” president. They can’t be bothered to understand the issues, much less the implications of allowing the executive offices to control the census...for example.

The fact is, if Obama keeps it up, the Republicans could field The Three Stooges, Abbott and Costello, The Keystone Kops, and The Marx Brothers, and still kick Democrat butt in 2010, then retake the White GHouse with Charlie Chaplin in 2012. The Democrats may be Leftist imbeciles, but they’re sufficiently Machiavellian to know that their survival lies farther toward the center than Barack Lenin is steering them.

That’s true, but as long as the people on unemployment are making $24-$30k take home on unemployment...why would they want to go back to work? I don’t think high unemployment is going to be a problem for them, those unemployed workers are happy as hell and they’ll be promised even more...as a business owner, I’m scared as I don’t see an end to this madness.

A RINO to us is a DINO to them. Eventually some of these moderate wishy washy people on both sides have to worry about getting re-elected, and getting the money they need to run.

A lot of the Blue Dogs Dems in the house are going to have a lot of problems in the next 2-4 years.

The GOP focus should be more on the Blue Dogs in the house IMO.

Demonrats will not turn away from Obalmy in significant numbers. Most of them are socialists like he is.

It won’t be easy to dislodge the Demonrats and Obalmy no matter what happens in this country. Members of a cult are not easily dissuaded to abandon their cult leader no mater what the facts dictate. They were not swayed by facts when they elected “the one.” The would rather continue drinking the Koolaid. I don’t think that will change. This is not the US of the ‘50s, or the ‘80s for that matter.

Help us out. What’s “U6”, (except presumably some sort of unemployment stat from the context and the “U”)?
