...

“[Hitler] guessed correctly that the French had no stomach for a fight. If only they had, then the tragedy of a Second World War might have been avoided,” Mr Watson said in the sermon he delivered at Kirkmuirhill Church in Lanark.

“To claim that the homosexual lifestyle is worthy of a child of God; to demand that a same-sex partnership be recognised as on a footing with marriage; to commend such a lifestyle to others is to deny that Jesus Christ is our only Sovereign and Lord. It is to turn the grace of God into a licence for immorality,” he said.

“Such people will not inherit the kingdom of God (1Cor.6:10). And therefore they must be resisted . . . Let me assure you, neither I nor like-minded minsters enjoy conflict . . . But have we learned nothing from history?

"Remember Hitler and the retaking of the Rhineland. He got away with it. No one stopped him. So next it was Austria, then Czechoslovakia, and then Poland and only then world war.”

Speaking last night, Mr Watson said: "There is no doubt that there is a conflict. I was trying to explain why I am engaged in this. People say to me, ‘This is not a hill to die on’, but I think it is a fight worth fighting.

“Evangelicals seek to defend the historic and orthodox Christian faith. If we don’t what are we? I am a man of convictions.”

The Church's General Assembly will debate Rev Rennie's appointment on May 23rd.

The dispute over his ordination is threatening to create a schism in the Church of Scotland and has been compared to the case of Gene Robinson, the first openly gay bishop in the US.

Not all gays are like Nazis, just the extreme political arm.

I call them homonazis.

"“Evangelicals seek to defend the historic and orthodox Christian faith. If we don’t what are we?"

They do? I don't really see that happening in America.

If Americans who claim to be Christian, actually stood for the sake of their "biblical" convictions, neither Clinton or Obama would have ever been voted into office in the first place.

In fact, I doubt if the "Progressive" party would even exist today if that were the case.

Oh I know. I wasn't attacking you.

I was just clarifying what is a justified stance against the extreme political arm. They call us homophobes for opposing them. Those that would do so, we can rightfully call homonazis.

Mr. Watson is a lion. God give his tongue the eloquence to persuade the trimmers in the Kirk.

I think that people get confused. G-d loves the sinner, but hates sin. He is calling to all that rebel against him to come to him in Tikkun and Tchuva, in other words, not only to recognize sin, but to turn from it. This is an everyday challenge to those that love and fear the G-d of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. What is happening is that a great portion of this country no longer wants to hear from G-d, so he gives them over to their own lusts. My prayer for the rebellious ones is that they recognize their need for G-d and turn back towards Him.

You are right. They label us extreme but I invite anyone to spend an hour with the activist literature and then tell me what is extreme, read a bit of Lawrence Tribe, read what the left has said itself. One does not have to limit themselves to Conservative authors. Too many young Republicans would become young conservatives if only they’d bother doing their research.

As an American of Scot descent, this minister makes me proud. I am glad there are some brave voices still around in old “Scotland of the Brave.”

You are SOOO right! In the Dark Ages it was Scottish missionaries who evangelized Northern Europe. That is why it has been a bastion against militant Catholicism almost to this day. The Pope always could count on Southern Europe, but Northern Europe had been taught real Christianity by the Scots.

I returned to Scotland for my honeymoon in August 2007. I had been stationed there in the Navy in 1974 & 75. One of the things that amazed me upon my return was the number of closed down churches. We went to one that was converted to a souvineer shop. Another was being used by the University of Glasgow for classes.

We went to the Glasgow Cathederal for the Sunday worship service. It was not heavily attended, and there were almost no young people there.

With churches closing and the young people not attending (plus the large influx of Muslims) I think that the days of a Christian Europe are almost over. Hopefully we can study what went wrong over there and avoid it here.
