Gingrich decries 'racism,' Sotomayor
The Washington Times ^ | 5/28/2009 | Bellantoni and Hallow

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Wednesday called Supreme Court nominee Judge Sonia Sotomayor a "racist" for remarks she made in 2001, joining an emerging conservative line of attack and enflaming both sides of the battle as interest groups fundraise over her nomination.

Mr. Gingrich, in his Twitter feed to more than 344,400 followers, called on Judge Sotomayor to withdraw from consideration to the high court. He said her remarks citing ethnic background as a reason for making better legal decisions, if spoken by a white male, would be disqualifying.

Sane people can find the logic in this.

Black racism, front and center, under the spotlight. Obama is such a clown.

The liberal/radical double-standard of the Dems lives on. Between the complicit MSM and a Repub party that is totally dysfunctional, excepting a few patriotic voices, these travesties will continue on.

The woman was nominated because of her race, her gender and her radical leftist ideology. Nothing more, nothing less.

Only white people can be racist.
Everyone knows that.

Why do they keep repeating that she is the first Hispanic ever nominated to the SC? Even on Hannity tonight with blathering John McShame, (may he be retired soon,) the headline under the feed was that she was the first......
It’s like they forgot Estrada ever existed.

You know, exactly when was it that “latin” people became members of an apparently new race? Did I miss something? Was there some new scientific discovery in genetics?

When the census form comes in, I will make SURE to put down OTHER and fill in that I am of the “Italian” race. I think that we Italians have a much better claim to their own race than do “Latinos”. Some “Latinos” in the US are of South American Indian extraction; some are of Spanish descent (you know, Spain - all the way in Western Europe - where all those OTHER nasty mean white people come from). Italians - well, we’re all “Italian”, and come from Italy, which is in a geographically related area, and we must not be confused with the Sicilian race, whose people are, of course, COMPLETELY different - although there’s just a little slice of the Mediterranean between them and us, not the Atlantic Ocean.

Estrada was nominated for the U.S. Court of Appeals, not the Supreme Court.

I don’t know, but you have to understand that liberals are completely fixated on the idea of race and segregation. As far as I’m concerned, we are all equal in the eyes of God.

She’s not only racist, she’s stupid. Ya know what, lady? If you’re going to make a nasty, racist remark, do NOT do it on the record where it will dog you to the end of your days. Duh.

She should be disqualified for sheer stupidity.

They confuse logic with ‘feeling’ and past experiences.

She seems to have excelled, why can’t others?

I don’t think that Estrada was a Supreme Court Justice or even nominated for that post.

We have a token racist in the WH I guess there ought to be a token racist on the SC.

I'd rather see a dim, potentially malleable leftist on the bench than a smart strong one.

Put another way, if SCOTUS is going to get a Harriet Miers, better she come from the other side.

These worshippers of so-called “Affirmative Action” are worse than the garden-variety racists.

Rather than individuals being racist for their rational & irrational reasons, these FASCISTS want to use THE STATE to force their RACIST objectives on our society. Can you say “Big Brother...???”

I don’t want my government looking at my skin color. Period.

Are these Libbies so stupid that they can’t even understand the simple point I just made??

I always laugh when I’m asked the question what “race” I am. Had an interesting conversation with a Census taker about 10 years ago, when they came to confirm the answers I had submitted on the form.

I informed her I was an “Adoptee-American” as I have no clue what my “ethnicity” is. She said, oh c’mon you’ve got red hair, blue eyes, and freckles - you’re Caucasian (then I told her I had recently dyed my hair and that the true color is “ash blonde/brown/with red highlights”. I said are you SURE about that - are you SURE I am caucasian? How do you know I’m not at least partially Hispanic, or partially Native American, or partially Asian??? If I don’t know, how in the heck would YOU know? I also mentioned that my adoptive sister who for her whole life was labeled Caucasian found her birth parents and discovered she was Half-Mexican! Imagine all those “quotas” screwed up by us adopted kids! ;)

[For the record she marked me down as Caucasian despite my objections.]

Then came the question of what “ethnicity” my husband was, I answered Polish-American (his family on both sides can be directly traced back to Poland although they’ve been here since the late 1800s on one side and approx. 1918 on the other). She said, “so that would make him Caucasian, too”, and I answered, NO that makes him Polish-American. She actually wrote that one down! LOL

It was quite a “fun” conversation... Just for the record, the Census taker was an African-American. It was quite fun when I suggested I might actually have African “blood” in my veins. Also when we had a conversation about the possibility of my having Native-American “blood” - I cited that my adoptive Grandmother and father were part-Cherokee.

All this labeling of races is just nuts...

Nice story....

Yeah, maybe this Sotomayor thing will be the beginning of the end of the race-baiters = the death of the neo-racists.

Well I guess I’m being a bit too optimistic.
