I read that Normandy will be closed this D Day Anniversary to ALL tourists at obama’s request!

That is beyond outrage... no words come to mind.

Is O doing Kennedy’s dirty work?

The insults towards the British are inexplicable unless they are being directed by the Kennedys.

Shoot, If there’s a camera you know Obam-a-ramma will be there.

May have been said, but I place ‘blame’ on some semi educated self important ‘person’ (gotta be PC).

Never know, he/she, may go to be ... President.

I don't agree with your pessimistic attitude regarding the royals. I have hopes for the future King William V (Chucky III will not happen, the queen will live to be 103 at least, like her mother).

Also, remember that the previous memeber of the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha family (renamed "Windsor" at the start of WWI to cover up the fact that they were nearly pure Germans) had a number of buffoons -- look no further than the present Queen's uncle, Eddy. The queen's father, grandfather and great-grandmother were noble and regal and the pride of their nation, but King George III was made and his son and William IV were buffoons.

It seems that Obama seems to deliberately insults the royal family and England. This is not a very good thing to do. There will come a day when we might need England’s friendship and it will not be there. Maybe it has something to do with Obama’s grandfather’s torture at the hands of the Brits. He should get beyond that for the good of the nation. It makes the USA look like a bunch a rubes to have elected a man who has so little good sense. More and more Obama looks like a one term president—if he makes it all the way though his four years without impeachment.

Franco-American? Who landed at Juno and Gold beaches? And, the only French there on 6/6/44 were civilians.

The Queen should consider herself lucky. Royalty tends to get guillotined in France.

Here in the USA, the British really get the short shrift and the Canadians are ignored completely. If it were not for them, the entire sector would have reinforced Utah and Omaha. I still feel the USA did the heavy lifting, but for criminy sakes, this was a joint effort with a huge and indispensable contribution by Britain and Canada.

That said, Omaha is special by the very difficulty of the landing. No where else on D-Day was resistance so stiff and so many things go so wrong. IIRC, the Canadians at Juno caught very stiff resistance as well, but still no where near what occurred on Omaha. Still, they lost 1,200 dead to the US 10,000 dead at Omaha.

For that reason, the US landing on Omaha has been upheld as the best symbol of the allied fighting spirit and determination and has come to really represent D-Day. But it does seem that way too many Americans forget the other half of the invasion by the English, Scots, Welsh, Irish, Free French, Belgians, Aussies, New Zealanders, and of course Canadians Hell, even Utah gets completely overlooked on D-Day. It is all about Omaha and Ponite Du Hoc.

Not true. There was lots of misery to spread around. And I am humbly grateful for each and every sacrifice made on those beaches and inland an in the Pacific and else where, to keep me free.

I only grieve that Obama will do more to enslave me than Hitler ever could.
