GOP goes after the Obama's date night in NYC @ 3:37 pm by Michael O'Brien
The Republican National Committee (RNC) went after President and Mrs. Obama's date night, contrasting their trip to New York City Saturday evening with Americans' economic struggles.
"As President Obama prepares to wing into Manhattan's theater district on Air Force One to take in a Broadway show, GM is preparing to file bankruptcy and families across America continue to struggle to pay their bills," RNC spokeswoman Gail Gitcho wrote to reporters.
"Have a great Saturday evening — even if you're not jetting off somewhere at taxpayer expense," she added.
The president and first lady had announced they will take a smaller VIP jet under military command to minimize the costs of the flight to New York this evening.
The administration had come under fire before for the trip of an Air Force One plane over Manhattan for promotional pictures, a trip which sparked questions about security and the cost of the trip.
The RNC dredged up that comparison as well, adding a clip to Obama's joke before the White House Correspondents' Association dinner about the First Daughters, Sasha and Malia, having been grounded for taking the plane for a "joyride" in that instance.
There is also a vibrant theater district in DC as well. But of course this is no big deal for the Democrats and liberals while approval ratings hover around 60%. Let approval ratings fall or the Dems lose seats in 2010, you will see a stop to this type of BS.
We need to vote out as many guys with D's after their name in 2010. That is what it all boils down to.
The moronic lazy voters put him there, now everyone must suffer.
Obama keeps Broadway pledge

President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama landed in New York City late Saturday afternoon for a Manhattan date night that was to include a Broadway show.
A spokesman read a statement from Obama: “I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished.
The president traveled in a smaller, Gulfstream-type plane rather than the larger planes typically used as Air Force One.
The Republican National Committee slammed the outing in an “RNC Research Piece”: “As President Obama prepares to wing into Manhattan’s theater district on Air Force One to take in a Broadway show, GM is preparing to file bankruptcy and families across America continue to struggle to pay their bills. ... Have a great Saturday evening – even if you’re not jetting off somewhere at taxpayer expense. ... The RNC’s Gail Gitcho added: “If President Obama wants to go to the theater, isn’t the Presidential box at the Kennedy Center good enough?”

Even if times were great, shouldn’t the leader of the free world and his wife be beyond such things as “date night?” I guess the immature, undignified and down market Obamas don’t have any more important fish to fry - typical.
They actually took three planes according to Jake Tapper's blog. They took two G3's(Obama and staff in those) and one G5 (carrying the press pool).
I'd have to do some calculating, but I'm guessing if they did save any money, it wasn't a whole lot. They saved a little on fuel (maybe), but have additional maintenance costs for the three plane's 9 engines over a single VC-25A's five engines.
Most everything about living in the White House seems to bore them. So I pray in less than 4 years, they can fulfill their dreams & buy their ocean front mansion in Hawaii..
